Very English

Easy listening. Short, fun, quick, nothing special. I do like the accent. I'll stay with the series.

Still good. Read them in order.

This is a wonderfully entertaining story that is delightful to read. I enjoyed the first book so well that I download the complete series before I finished the finished the book. The books end with a cliffhanger, usually with a startling revelation or socially awkward situations.

The story is driven by Jill’s discovery that her biology family is witches. So, she has a learning curve and all the comedic situations that a beginner witch can encounter when learning magic in secret, being pursued by the diabolical nemeses of the story, and trying to work as a detective. After solving the mystery in the first book, demand for her services increases and her time becomes determined by others.

Jill has two separate lives, her paranormal life as a witch, which must be kept secret from non-paranormals. The story always has one central mystery, which Jill may or may not get paid for and other peripheral things that are happening to her inner circle. Her mysteries in her human world put her is a situation where she must work with Detective Maxwell. Their relationship begins as contentious. Winky, the one-eyed cat, is the most delightful character. While at the office there is dissension with the cat and her secretary Ms. V. The main mystery is in the human world. The little peripheral mysteries are solved with the aha epiphany. There is no profanity or sex to disrupt and a light, funny story.

Action between the magic and human world is tried together with Jill unintendedly using her magic in her human life. Yes, the conversation is snarky, and there are a few characters whose primary purpose is to whine. I read the complete series in three days and through enjoyed them.

Love this Series!

Any additional comments?

The plot gets a bit more complicated with several crimes being solved at the same time, and romance weaving it's way into the lives of several characters. Grandma turns up the heat and the craziness .. such fun; and the animals get meaner still!

cute

as in the first book of the series, the narrator was wonderful and the story light and funny. if, however, you're wanting a great mystery....look elsewhere. the mysteries in the book are light and cozy. nothing too serious or thought provoking. if you want a light, humorous read this is a good second book in the series.

Enjoyable

I Love reading this series! Jill has loveable quirky family members, except her sister Kathy. Kathy is annoying but Kathy's actions lead to memorable comments from Jill, which I thoroughly enjoy. It appears she has the potential to be a really powerful witch. It should be interesting to see how her story unfolds. Definitely reading book three.

Another great book

Winky is hilarious! Great books, lovely to hear a story set in the UK (mostly). Her sister is still annoying though.

Loved it !

Loved the book. Second in the sequence. Two different worlds running alongside each other. Great characters and loads of possibilities of where the stories could go.

Narrator does a rather annoying sister voice, which does put me off. Hopefully it will improve.

Can't wait to start the next one.

Family problems and missing trophies abound

Jill is getting into the swing of spells and enjoying learning more about candlefield. However there are tensions both within the family, and in Candlefield in general. In the midst of this, there are two crimes to solve, one in each world.

Again this is a fun ride, suitable for younger teens and adults, and perfect light summer reading.

Another cute quirky book, a great series if you just want a light read. Jill has got her hands full as she investigates a murder, the theft of two trophies and a missing cat. The plot was a bit predictable but it was still a good light read. With more funny antics from her family, though I think her sister Kathy is annoying with how manipulative she is towards Jill. A good read though if you just want a light witch book.
