I loved this story. It felt like a real world experience in a flawed world

Predictable story but still entertaining

I liked the characters in this book a lot they were very endearing. I was curious to see how she was going to turn the beginning into a romance. Once they settled in one spot though the plot became formulaic and very predictable. Enter one bad guy, conflict happens they overcome, happily ever after.

I loved this concept. It's different than other books I've been reading, and it was really exciting and suspenseful. Kylie Scott writes character better than anyone, I absolutely loved them. Andi Arndt is a pro. Highly recommend!!

I should have expected this from the title, but I didn’t, this book felt like The Walking Dead without the zombies, just the bad humans who want the world for themselves. I wasn’t expecting an MMC who would kidnap his neighbour to save her, but I loved the banter at the start, especially the line: “Oh, you rummaged through my underwear? Don’t stalkers do that before kidnapping?”
When they met Sophia, it was a true testament to Dean’s loyalty to Astrid, he would stand by her even if it meant getting sick from the virus. Watching their relationship grow was so good, and every time Astrid was hurt, Dean made sure those who hurt her paid the price.
The way Dean would say “where is my wife” melted my heart. They slipped so naturally into that relationship and became a family with Sophia. I’d love to read more set in this world, especially as they rebuild society and face more people trying to destroy their peace.
I listened to this on audio, and Andi Arnt was incredible (as always, I’ll listen to anything she narrates, and luckily, she narrates a lot of this author’s books). While the spice was light, that moment before their first time when Dean said if they continued, he would no longer be sleeping in the other room 🔥.
If you like The Walking Dead, a morally grey MMC, and a golden retriever girl-dad vibe, this book is perfect for you.
