Publisher's summary

The most important question you’ll ever ask yourself.

In Why Bother?, personal growth expert Jennifer Louden challenges you to open your mind, heart, and life by following where the question leads. Through reflection and stories from others, Louden demonstrates how to bother when it feels impossible or like too much work, whether after professional defeats, heartbreak, illness, or life-changing loss.

She shows why you must prioritize what’s calling you at any time of your life, especially when you’ve sidelined your dreams to raise kids, pay the rent, or take care of aging parents. And crucially, she shows you how tapping into your deepest desires can give you the energy to move forward - even when the world seems in such dire straits.

It’s time to reclaim the dignity and beauty of your desires. It’s time to get your bother on.

Beautiful Book by a beautiful person!

Jen rights a real, honest, practical, funny, uplifting book that helps you be okay with the loss and despair we all experience between the ebbs and flow of life. I will be revisiting it in time of need :)

Coming Back to Life

Jennifer Louden adds this work to a long body of texts built to support women folks especially, but anyone willing to be exercised by Feminine Wisdom, with re-orienting our thoughts around a foundation of “bother,” which I interpreted as a way of materializing an energy of caring, into the kind of trekking poles favored by active walkers who could offload some of the balance function to equipment, and enjoy a longer journey in the process. It’s worth having a hard copy and an Audible version read by the author, because the texts hits different across each medium. I recommend Why Bother for anyone who wants to do something differently with their life force energy.

Jennifer is truly a gift to the world.

I could not leave and not let you know Jennifer how much you touched my mind but especially my heart. I felt every thing you talked about. I don't even know how many times I have told myself why bother. Well now when I say that to myself I'll get curious and figure out why. You have touched me in a way that I will take action so I can have every wonderful dream I have held only in my head with the ongoing follow up of why bother. You are not only a gift to me but to the world. Oprah should take this book and see who you really are!!! I hope to see and meet you at a retreat soon. May God bless you. Lora Terry

bother to listen to this book!

just what I needed to get out of my slump! Jen's approach is like listening to a compassionate, supportive friend yet her material is serious and important. if shits been getting you down and you're stuck in a 'why bother' funk, this book will remind you that your life is a gift, to yourself and you are a gift to the world. I'm definitely better off for reading it.

perfect read for the times

this book was a life saver in a year that felt like it was pointless even getting out of bed! it's not preachy or aiming to fix you, just helping you sit with who and what you are and might be.

A great resource for strength & guidance

This book was referred to me by my counselor. I highly recommend it to help throughout your life. Keep it handy as a future resource because we will all surely have more than one ‘Why bother?’ experience.

Fantastic!

I just finished this book which is a sort of new manual for me. I relate to so much in the book. Very encouraging and empowering. Lots of concrete exercises and examples. New tools to use right now. Her delivery style really spoke to me. Im considering just starting it over and listening again one more time. It was rich with information.
