Historical fiction is a wonderful way for me to learn about history. I did not know anything about the war of 1812 even though I learned about it in high school I highly recommend.

First chapters somewhat depressing
Starts with a murder of a familiar character, and the grief and nightmares resulting from that are heavy for awhile. The heroine does start feeling better eventually. Author is very skilled in bringing history to life.

Engaging
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Roseanna's books and writing style. This one got a little melodramatic though. A little too sappy. But overall an excellent story and well worth listening to.

The Best Yet
Every one of the "Culper Series" that I listen to, I make that statement. I still have 1 more book to go in this series. The author is outstanding. I went through all the emotions that the characters in this book went through. The LORD always speaks to me as HE does the characters of the book.
