Publisher's Summary

“Lengard is a secret government facility for extraordinary people,” they told me.

I believed them. That was my mistake.

There isn’t anyone else in the world like me.

I’m different. I’m an anomaly. I’m a monster.

For two years, six months, fourteen days, eleven hours and sixteen minutes, Subject Six-Eight-Four - ‘Jane Doe’ - has been locked away and experimented on, without uttering a single word.

As Jane’s resolve begins to crack under the influence of her new - and unexpectedly kind - evaluator, she uncovers the truth about Lengard’s mysterious ‘program’, discovering that her own secret is at the heart of a sinister plot...and one wrong move, one wrong word, could change the world.

Critic Reviews

"Compulsively readable, compellingly narrated, and so full of twists and turns that I couldn't put it down until I'd turned the final page. I loved every sentence of Whisper." (Sarah J. Maas, #1 New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of the Throne of Glass series)

"A gripping and heart wrenching tale. I was enthralled." (Maria Snyder, New York Times best-selling author)

Great book and narration

Really enjoyed the story and narration. Couldn't stop listening. It was refreshing to have an Australian narrator. Tamala's pitch and tone are both relaxing and spellbinding. Lynette's story was different to what I usually listen to but thoroughly enjoyed.

Love this story!

I...LOVED IT! This book was one of those that I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I started. I had heard of Lynette Noni's other series, though I've yet to read it, but seeing SJMaas' praise, along with an interesting blurb, and I was all for it. I'll admit, I rewrote this to be double sure to avoid spoilers, as the first one talked a lot about the characters. That said, this is one of those books that it's best to know next to nothing about so you can enjoy it as it unfolds. This books starts out with a strange girl who is selected by a governmental facility for a 'program' go one is willing to tell her about. We aren't given a name, so she is called Jane Doe. For over 2 years, she hasn't spoken, or even responded to treatment, evaluation, or torture. In a last ditch effort to get a response, the Director tells her she had 30 days to show improvement, or she will be removed from the system. To sweeten the deal, he adds a new face to her schedule. I loved the characters, plot, and writing style, but most of all, I love the mystery and sci-fi elements of this story! It's so fun unwrapping the layers of the story, and coupled with a fast-pace and complex original characters, I loved every moment of it!

Amazing! Thrills, Twists, and Tickles the soul.

So good I listened to the whole thing without stopping. I never predicted anything that would happen, kept me on my toes. Character dialogue was witty and realistic. Dont miss out.

looking forward to the 2nd book bc of the ending

it held my attention. I was curious as to what was going to happen although it was interesting I was wondering when they were going to lead into the action as to why she was held captive for so long. I want to know what became of cami brother(forget his name) & what the reprecussions are for the escape. what becomes of the others. what about to other group of speakers?

What a surprise!

This is a fantastic book and was a wonderful surprise. Well written and beautifully narrated. If you enjoyed The Hunger Games, Divergent and Harry Potter you should enjoy this book. Whilst this book reminds me of the above mentioned books in small ways it is most definitely it’s own unique, imaginative story.

I’d give both the performance and story a 6 if I could

This isn’t a genre I would normally read but was so pleasantly surprised as the story unfolded, I was carried along on the journey of Jane. My only criticism is that the ending seemed abrupt and a number loose ends not tied. A sequel coming I guess. The reader captured the dialogue, especially of Jane, perfectly.

Good story but not compelling like the Medoran Chronicles

Don’t get me wrong this story was a great listen but It left me feeling a little short, or feeling meh. It didn’t have the character build up that other books by Noni have, It seemed a little cut off at the end and although overall I enjoyed it, I didn’t get the OMG give me more feeling that I had with her other books.

Interesting

The narrator is acceptable but rather monotone. Which is not necessarily bad in this book. But doesn't get in on the action when it is occurring. Make it more difficult to form relationships with the characters. We're left not really knowing what happened and being able to see some of the future loopholes for ourselves. Which is rather annoying. I am inclined to read the second book, but I note I've so far been able to resist due to wanting to read other books more. So although I do want to know what happens next, clearly it's not enveloped me as other stoies do.

Torture

Endured the torture for 5 hrs and couldn’t do anymore. Teenage sci-fi definitely not my genre. Thought the narrator was good, the only positive!
