Publisher's Summary

The room is dark, except for the streetlights coming through the blinds. I can barely see her, but I feel her. She pushes me up against the wall, and we kiss harder than we ever have before. I’ve been waiting so long for it to happen, and finally, it’s going to. Then the bedroom door flies open, and someone screams her name....

Britton Walsh has never had a home. After a lifetime in the care system, she doesn't expect she’ll ever find one. But beginning her senior year with new foster parents, in a new city, means starting over - yet again. Tom and Cate Cahill seem okay. The hitch? Their daughter, Avery.

Beautiful, popular, and cool, Avery is everything Britton is not. She’s all Britton could ever ask for in a sister, or even a friend - but having survived without either for so long, Britton knows the way her heart races whenever Avery enters the room can only mean one thing....

But Avery has a secret. Something that is eating away at her and stopping her from letting anyone in, least of all Britton. Will Avery’s insistence on punishing herself for a mistake in her past make Britton's last year of high school, and finding a place to call home, impossible? Can two people so different ever find common ground, friendship, or maybe even something more?

An unforgettable new adult lesbian romance for fans of Keeping You a Secret by Julie Anne Peters, Her Name in the Sky by Kelly Quindlen, or Nancy Garden’s classic young adult coming-out novel, Annie on My Mind

New adult novel: recommended for 17+ due to mature themes and sexual content.

Too young for my taste.

The book was okay, I can’t believe I finished it, it was not my thing whatsoever. Big thing is it reads like the author is in high school. Not only is the story about high schoolers it sounds like it’s written by one. The words lulz and jelly as in jealous, and “wheels” are spoken. Very YA. I don’t mind YA, but I suppose I prefer a more mature tone? This book was too sunshine and rainbows. Nothing heavy, no angst, just so very cheesy.

I’m 35 if that helps. :/

Loved it!

I never read the first book by this author, but this one was among the best New Adult WLW books I’ve listened to/read. NA is a hard genre for me to enjoy, mostly because emerging adults are kind of insufferable humans as a rule. But the characters here, both the mains and supporting NA cast, are well written and likable (especially Britton). They also keep things relatively low on the teenage angst scale, which is a MAJOR bonus for me. What angst there is is tied to some life events that are actually legitimately heavy and very sad. The writing is truly exceptional and the romance is sweet. Be forewarned, for a while this does feel like the slowest burning romance you’ll ever read, a feeling exacerbated by the fact that the story is entirely written from Britton’s POV, so you’re not ever quite sure what Avery is thinking. But they get there eventually, and the story you get to read in the interim is really lovely and very well told.

As for the narration, it was a real treat. I have never heard anything narrated by Lynn Norris before, but she did an excellent job and was a PITCH PERFECT fit for the NA/YA material.

Well worth the wait

The Gravity Between Us was one of the first lesfic audiobooks I ever listened to and I loved it. I can't even tell you how many times I've listened to it over the last few years. I looked for other work by this author but was so disappointed to find there was none. When I heard she was working on a second book I patiently (not so much) waited. I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Britton and Avery, and the friendships Britton built with other characters. I hope Kristen Zimmer continues to write and doesn't make us wait so long for her next story. Welcome back!

A Young Love

Britton Walsh grew up in foster care in what is hopefully her last placement, she starts her senior year of high school in Tom and Cate Cahill’s home. Their daughter Avery is also a senior. Britton is attracted to Avery from the start. A great coming of age story.

Young feeling

The story felt young. It felt more like a YA novel. I LOVED Kristen Zimmer’s first book. Extremely well written. I was also a bit distracted by the narrator. She made the characters sound even younger than they were.

We’ll done!

Cute story. I loved the way Britton talked to herself with her under toned snide remarks. Story was well written and performed.

Amazing

I bought this book as it’s the 2nd book Kristen Zimmer has released (The Gravity between us, was the 1st which is in my top 3 books), so I knew I needed to listen to this book.

I was not disappointed with this book; it is a high school romance, a coming out story too.

It is funny and charming, it had me laughing one minute and then crying the next.

It was a lovely story that was well written and well narrated.

And I loved it, can’t wait for this author to do more books.

Felt rushed

I liked the idea of the story and the initial build up. But towards the end I felt the relationship was forced and lacked some substance.

Great Story

This was a beautiful story with characters who felt real. The narrator did a superb job capturing their individualality.
