When Shane Greenly left his home in Casper Mountain, Wy, he was leaving more than just the closet. He needed a fresh start to pursue his dream of running a dog training ranch without having to deny who he really is.

Meeting Alex was one of the best things that could have happened to Shane. They were at the beginning of a wonderful relationship when the unthinkable happened and Shane had to leave. The consequences of his past mistakes could not be hidden any longer.

Both Enchanting and Emotions Packed

This is the first novel that I've read by Aria Grace. I say first because after reading When It's Right, I will be definitely reading more of her work.

This was a beautiful and heartwarming tale about Alex and Shane who often times think that they are at cross purposes but are quite actually on the same page (pun intended).

I found myself experiencing the gamut of emotions. I felt myself transported, as if i were actually there. At times as aroused, heartbroken, overjoyed, verclempt and misty all through this enchanting novel. In my humble opinion, those are the hallmarks of an excellent author and a great read.

At 1.50 speed it was tolerable.

I guess I'm being a little bit harsh, it was inexpensive... Maybe I will get the next book in the series ...

Review:

I have to be honest and say this book was a little bit of a letdown for me, maybe it was the narrator and his lack of enthusiasm and inflection while reading, or the frequent plosives that occurred throughout the book -- overall, with the narrator and a lack of story I was really disappointed.

The story itself was based on a cute plot, two men brought together by their love of Animals only to have their love grow into something deeper and committed. I found myself chuckling along with Alex as he let us into his mind and feeling bad for Shane while he struggled with life changing decisions.

I really think that this book could have been better had the author given us a bit more background into Alex’s life, then after the conflict was resolved maybe give the reader a bit more of Alex and Shane living as a couple. However, I understand it was meant to be a short story so the author had to draw the boundary somewhere.

The chemistry between Shane and Alex was pretty hot, in the few scenes we got -- especially after Shane got over his shyness and embraced being a gay man. It was good to watch Shane go through the transition from barely out-of-the-closet to out-and-proud as his relationship grows with Alex. Overall, I just could not connect with the story the way I wish -- and I think this was due to the narration. Hopefully one day the author will continue on with Shane and Alex’s story and maybe if that happens I will read their story rather than listen 2.5 Stars.

Sweet story

My only complaint was that it was too short and could've been more detailed. Overall lovely story short sweet story.

Started out cute...

Any additional comments?

While it started out cute, sweet and pretty strong it was quickly dragged down by subpar narration and a completely unnecessary miscommunication plot that ruined any good feelings I had for the story.

There is a whole situation that could have been introduced and entwined organically into the story, but instead it felt clunky and forced.

As for the narration, Jason P. Hilton does have nice inflection and adequate character voices, but, unfortunately, those are his only two positives.

Hilton has a slight nasal quality to his voice through much of the story like he had allergies or a cold while having to record. Also, Hilton pauses too often, with every comma or period and speaks in a slow tone that made me want to speed up the audio. Finally, there were a couple of sound issues and I could hear Hilton audibly swallowing several times.

Despite these complaints it's still not the worst audio I've heard, and like I said Hilton does a good job with inflection and character voices, so it wasn't a terrible listen...but I cannot really recommend it either.

This is more proceed with caution.
