The next novella in the New York Times bestselling Sworn Soldier series, featuring Alex Easton investigating the dark, mysterious depths of a coal mine in America.

"The third installment of [author T.] Kingfisher's Sworn Soldier series is once again masterfully performed by [narrator] Avi Roque..[his] tone suggests that true horror is about to be released."—Kirkus

"Voiced by [Avi] Roque, Alex proves an endearing and capable storyteller whose military discipline and down-to-earth manner help them keep their head amid the book's bizarre circumstances."— Library Journal

Alex Easton does not want to visit America.

They particularly do not want to visit an abandoned coal mine in West Virginia with a reputation for being haunted.

But when their old friend Dr. Denton summons them to help find his lost cousin—who went missing in that very mine—well, sometimes a sworn soldier has to do what a sworn soldier has to do...

Another great book in this series. Riveting storyline, excellent writing, and the best audio voice I've heard to date. Thriller right to the very end.

This book was WAY better than the 2nd book. Though not as scary as the first book. I love the characters and the “monster” is such an interesting concept. Very Star Trek.

Love this series!

Love the series as I always love TKingfisher! Characters are unique. Humor and some spookiness is always a win.

I always love the creepy aspects of the story that kingfisher does such a great job of capturing in their novels

This was an excellent read. it stands well on its own, but continues the adventures of characters from an earlier volume. Characters with different gender orientations live their lives without dwelling on them. These differences provide greater context and depth for appreciating their approaches to problem solving. And this book gives every character plenty of problems to solve. The reader won't see the problems or solutions coming.
