Very Light

Due to what I've learned of this time in US history, this story is very "light". The horrors of an enslaved woman in the situation as the main character was kept gentle.

In lightning

I felt like this book was very well written. And although it was fiction the book depicted what I believe was the reality for people at that time. Very intriguing book. I believe it will be worth reading a second time!

Amazing

I loved the entire story. Having the person read doing the different voices for the characters helped keep it interesting. Definitely a must read.

A solid book

This was a good book. I enjoyed the character development and the storyline. Lizzie at certain points started to get on my nerves a bit, but I guess putting myself in her shoes I can see how she moved the way she did in certain instances. The narrator was really good. I do feel that certain characters stories were a bit rushed or left the reader wanting a bit more from them just because of how they were developed in the story but overall, it was a good book. Definitely shed a light on the nuances between, the slave girls and the wives. Lizzy was treated like mistress but not really because the relationship was really her master taking what he wanted when he wanted it.
