Brava! This story has me on the edge! I loved it! Absolutely loved it! This is such an important story to tell as there are so many black/brown girls that have vanished and never thought twice! Every crippling detail that spilled off the pages such as the secrets within families and households , preying on you and impressionable young girls and excusing our elder’s behaviors was riveting! Great audio and I don’t believe there is another way that this story could have been effectively consumed!

Very intriguing Story

Very interesting listen. Slow and stagnant at times in reflection but well worth the listen all the way through. Perhaps we are too used to the pace of binging tv on streaming services, so good to slow down and go with the flow and twists of the story. Not predictable at all.

Listening to this as an audiobook elevated the experience. The narration by Nicole Cash is excellent—her voice is calm and soothing, yet perfectly attuned to the suspense and emotional shifts of the story. Her pacing and cadence make the audiobook incredibly easy to follow, even at 1.5x speed, and her delivery adds intimacy and urgency without overdramatizing the material.

The storytelling is tight and purposeful. Each chapter builds on the last, the tension steadily increases, and the mystery unfolds in a way that keeps you fully engaged while honoring the gravity of the subject matter. The audiobook format allows the emotional beats to land with even more impact, especially as the story weaves together personal loss and collective memory.

This is a gripping, thoughtful listen that stays with you long after it ends—both for its mystery and for the stories it insists on remembering.

I was invested from the very beginning. It’s a very relatable story i think for many women of color and the relationships they have with the mother and elders in their family whether or not someone has gone missing
