​The Setup 🎙️
​Benny Abbott and Joy Moore are the voices behind the world’s most addictive survival podcast. They’ve built an entire empire on finding humor in near-death experiences. But when Benny shows up to record and finds shattered glass and a missing bestie, the "survival story" becomes way too literal.
​The police think Benny did it (rude), and the only clue is a secret first draft of Joy’s memoir. As the clock ticks, we find out that the "perfect" lives of these podcast BFFs are actually built on a foundation of some very dark, very messy secrets.
​Why I’m Obsessed
​The "Addictive Love" Trope: Can we talk about Benny and Joy? We’ve all had that knockout, physically changing, slightly-too-intense type of love. The "best friends" label was clearly just an excuse for them to be as close as humanly possible. Honestly, same bestie! No shade here, though I highly wish my real-life version of Benny had stayed as committed as Joy did.
​The Emotional Rollercoaster: I laughed, I cried, and I felt every single ounce of Joy’s pain. The character development in this book is top-tier. You start off thinking you know these people because you’ve "heard" their voices, but the truth is so much heavier.
​The Real Talk (TW): Just a heads-up for my fellow readers—this story leans heavily into themes of domestic violence. It’s handled with a lot of heart, but it is intense.
​Final Thoughts
​I love this journey for us, even if it left me a dehydrated mess from crying. If you want a thriller that has an amazing plot, incredible twists, and characters that feel like your actual friends, read this. Just keep the tissues nearby.

Incredible storytelling and narration

I love the dual narration! This is a twisty story that will lock you in and keep you listening.

Did not finish

This book was portrayed as a thriller. Maybe I didn’t listen long enough, but it was definitely not a thriller for the first 3 hours. I found it boring. The narration was great, but the storyline and the relationships were confusing. I didn’t want to waste anymore time on it.
