Ellison Russell wanted a decorator, not a corpse. Too bad she finds Mrs. White in the study killed with a revolver. Things go from bad to worse when she finds Mr. White in the dining room killed with a candlestick. With so many bodies, is it any wonder Detective Anarchy Jones' new partner considers Ellison a suspect?

With the country club gossips talking a mile a minute, an unexpected cocktail party, a visit from Aunt Sis, and a romantic decision, Ellison hardly has time to think about murder. Unfortunately, the killer has plenty of time to think about her.

I have left other reviews for the earlier books in the series. They are all beyond brilliant and witty, and I am amazed of the talent of the author and the narrator. Off the charts productions. In this case, the subject matter itself adds one more adjective to the list: necessary. I grew up in the 70s and remember all too well this very atmosphere and era in which victims of domestic violence, had few, if any options for escape. Thank you to both the author, and the narrator for highlighting this issue with such brilliance and care. Bravo!

Brilliant, witty, and absolutely necessary.

This was a good book and gives insight into spousal abuse during that time period and how women were trapped in abusive relationships and have overcome!

I've listened to every book in this series up to this point and have enjoyed them all for their plot, characters and wit. This one reminds me that as little as 50 years ago, women were considered to be almost the property of their husbands. It deals with domestic abuse as a problem for all women and not just those in the working class. It is an engaging story, that while fiction, should remind us of how recently women's progress has occurred and how much we need to work to keep from slipping back. The main characters in this book are great with realistic emotions and dialog. The book is hard to put down with its fast pace and twisty plot.

Thought provoking story

One of my favorite series. Ellison may have been sheltered, but she really starts to grow. And Anarchy is still Anarchy.
