The word COFFEE

If it was a drinking game and every time I heard the word coffee, I’d take a drink. I wouldn’t make it through the first chapter. Other than that it was enjoyable and mindless listening. I have enjoyed the series of books.

l love all of Julie's books!! Great characters,stories and narrator. I am going to be very sad when I read the last book in this series.

Another fun listen

These books are pure fun. Julie’s writing always makes me happy and Callie’s voice is perfect. Well worth the time and credit.

Enjoyable Story with a helping of Laughter

I truly enjoy Julie Mulhern’s books. I enjoy the narrator, the characters, the story, and how the story makes me laugh. For a fun book even taking on more serious events I highly recommend Ms. Mulhern’s books!

Continuing with her trademark theme of blending wit, humor and serious societal issues, Mulhern tackles sexual assault and the justice system in this 9th book.

Another Fun Listen!

Such a fun series. Good to listen in order, if possible, but not necessary. I’ve been listening as they become available on Audible Plus. There are several ongoing threads that run through all the stories, in particular Ellison’s romantic interest(s), which are quite sweet and heartwarming. Then there are the dog (Max), the daughter (Grace), the Mother, the best friend (Libba), and the ever faithful Mr. Coffee. Oh, and not to forget the appearance of numerous dead bodies piling up each time.

Every book in this series is well written and entertaining. My only complaint is having to wait so long for the next one.

top notch series with one caveat

I am reading my way through this series in order, and I will continue to do so. The plotting, the imagery, the dramatic climax, the comic relief, and the vividness of character development are outstanding.

My only caveat lies in the character of Frances Wofford. she comes too close to being a flat character rather than the typically dynamic characters created by this author. Frances is unrelentingly obnoxious, and she doesn't learn from her experiences. She does give us brief glimpses of some character growth, some genuine caring, but then she slams right back into being someone so obnoxious I find it amazing that she is still welcome in the polite society that she so much values, as well as in her daughter's home.

in a less well-crafted story, I would have walked away from the series because of her. Given the strength of everything else, I continue to hope that the principle in narrative writing of never letting a character be all bad or all good will continue to develop in Frances Wofford, even though at a snails pace.

Great series

I love this series! This had some particularly funny laugh out loud moments, particularly the description of Ellison swigging scotch in her friend’s front yard with the neighbors watching….and who pulls up but Mother!
