a kid from foster care

alot of the reviews I read are about how dumb the MC is. I am glad I didn't listen and purchased this book. As someone who has been in foster care and in the system this touched home for me. The MC has no life experience, no parents, no supports. He even states he has never been in the woods before. I get it 100 percent. It is actually what sold me on this book. He should be appear dumb and indecisive and make questionable decisions. He doesn't have all the answers because he starts off with little to no life experience and zero guidance coming from a foster home filled with 8 kids.

Great start looking forward to the next book

Over all the book is great. Narration is solid, slow burn build up no real action but the book was not boring at all in my opinion. Only con I can say is that so parts the MC is to unsure and reflects too heavily it becomes a little whiney but it’s not unbearable. I think it will become less common as the story progresses. Can’t wait for the next release

Great story! I love that it is taking it’s time. The narrators are excellent as well. Can’t wait for book two.

character development is top notch. thoroughly enjoyed it. immediately digested book 2. the voice actors are great and have great chemistry. would reccoment to friends who don't read h-lit

Really likes the lore of this story

I really liked the way it chose the humanity of the MC and his struggles with coming to terms with who and what he is and his place in his new world. I really can’t wait to check out the rest of the books, including the third book which just came out. Also, I really like that this is not a normal magic Academy book. Yes it does have the MC dealing with school, but the main focus is about him, adjusting to his new life and his relationships.
