Publisher's summary

War Whore is a thrilling stand-alone novel in the War's Edge universe.

The most dangerous job in the galaxy...

In war, there is no second place. To ensure victory, planetary governments employ private armies to help fight their battles. And the Berserkers are the best. As the galaxy's preeminent mercenary force, they are hired by governments and corporations to do jobs that are too tough, too messy, or too deadly for their own forces. Expertly trained and equipped with the most advanced weaponry, they are willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill a contract - if the price is right.

Their job was to kill and get paid handsomely for it, but being a hired gun doesn't mean there isn't a code. For the Berserkers, that means taking care of their own. Captain Ron Axel finds that mantra tested to the limit when he must lead a daring mission to rescue a Berserker force trapped deep behind enemy lines on a bleak frontier world. With no margin for error, the Berserkers must fight to survive against an onslaught of hostile forces, and Axel must choose between accomplishing the mission or the survival of his men.

They stand to make the biggest payday in the galaxy...if they can live long enough to spend it.

Like fury, but in the future.

It's a great book set in the wars edge universe. this time following Axel whose part of a merc company named the BERSERKERZ. He's a man giving a job that's almost guaranteed to fail, and to hamper him more he gets stuck with a planetary forces commander thats egging him on in the worse ways. He makes sacrifices while trying to get the job done. all in all pretty dang good. I do wish it followed rizer but if all of these books will be new sub stories then I guess I can't wait to see what he does.

Liked it but...

Its lacking compared to Book 1. Preferred Tom Weiner. Found myself not caring about any of the characters, including the MC. Story felt rushed together. Hard to keep attention on book. Was really hoping for it to be on par with book 1.

The MC is a total BETA male

The first book in this series was fantastic, and nearly everything about this one’s character development and descriptive violence and tech were also spot on, but the MC in this book is a sorry soyboy and time after time goes from kicking ass in one scene to letting his XO and lover be murdered in the next and then cry about it rather than merk the guy that killed her.

I had to skip the latter half of the book and just hoped the MC would die the latter half of the book. This story doesn’t continue with Riser’s story, so unless you’d like to read a subpar crybaby filled book, just skip this one and hope the author writes better characters in the future installments.

Narrator was brilliant as always though! Just a poorly written and terribly executed MC.

Mil Sci-fi at its Finest.

I showed up here because I listen to a lot of Galaxy’s Edge, Warhammer, Ember War, and all those big title series. This one and the rest of the series were initially a time killer while I waited for more “big titles”. Well, this is as good as any mil sci-fi out there, give it a listen. Top notch it my book. Till Valhalla

Great Book!

I genuinely enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure if it would stand up to the first, because it is a completely different story and different narrator. However I was pleasantly surprised, it was just as good and the narrator was so much better.

The author knows his stuff.

His military experience shows throughout the book. I’d love to read more about CPT Axle. I may like him better than 2LT Reiser.
Narrator is fantastic.
Highly recommended.

ok book, but where the Hell is Rizer!???!??

why deviate away from Rizer??? I was expecting to see what happened beyond the 1st book. not a completely different story...this is not "technically" a a part of the series with as much deviation it has already....

wow

A little bit of a different story than the first book. Not to say that is a bad thing. Once thr book gets going the writing makes you experience everything. Can't wait for more.

Love it!

Great stand alone story. Can’t go wrong with it. Non stop action. Tanks. The horrors of war. And a perfect ending. Ready to listen to the next one!
