Publisher's Summary

Eric knows it's not easy, being King. Fortunately, he has a Queen for that.

Eric - or King Halar, or Vlad, or any number of aliases - doesn't want to be bothered. It's hard to pin down what he does want, if anything. He lives a quiet life, almost a solitary one, mourning in his own way for the loss of someone dear.

His quiet solitude can't go on forever. Despite the empty places inside him, events and creatures move through the worlds and across the void between, forcing him into action, into fighting, into confronting things perhaps better left alone...even forcing him into being a King.

Best. Series. Ever.

If you’ve read the first four books in the series you know what you’re in for and the only question is whether this book is equally as good as its predecessors. Yes, yes it is.

An Amazing Series

This story and narration is simply amazing. I thought there were some slow parts in the story, but anytime Sean Runnette is speaking it's good. These books are so long and involved, When you're finished it's like a friend going away for the summer, and I'm stuck wanting this story to keep going.

Yay and sad

I'm not going to give away anything, but if the last book left you broken inside, this one will start to mend those wounds.

Rambling, long-winded and completely brilliant

Garon is such a rare talent. i can't think of any other author capable of writing a book like this. for most of it you're not even sure what the main plot is. you're just interested in seeing whatever problem Halar tackles next. its utterly engaging

absolutely excellent wonderful amazing

I have read hundreds of books I started listening to audible due to my long commute to work I have about 90 audible books under my belt. and this book series is by far my favorite. it's like Anne rice meets lord of the rings with a doctor who twist. written fully for a adult audience. at first I was a little skeptical of the narrator but quickly realized how talented and skillful he was. he truly made me fall in love with the characters and brought them to life giving them each a unique voice and personality. I truly like how the realism comes across in the book. how the main protagonist knows that there are consequences for his actions and he he does not mindlessly do things. watching his inner struggle and how he overcame his obstacles had a very real feel. I encourage everyone to read this book series if you like epic fantasies vampires dragons Wizards a wonderful realistic magic system and just one hell of a roller coaster ride that's easy to follow with a complex plot

Devestated when it ended!

I really just do not want these books to ever stop! I love so many aspects of Void and the earlier books that I have now read them numerous times. You have hand it to the narrator for total immersion in the Nightlord world as he brings it all together with a great performance and a realistic telling of the series.

Good Book, enjoyed listening.

Overall a good book but the story is a little bit slow and seems to go nowhere, however I like the characters just wish it would move quicker. look forward to the next one.

Simply incredible...

As with every other book that preceeded it, the depths of immortal turmoil are plummed with open eyes and vengeful hearts. every decision having consequences and those consequences rippling out into the eternal pond of the multiverse. may these stories never truely end. Thank you, Mr. Whited for the gift of the nightlord books.

keeps knocking it out the park

I don't think loved this is the correct term as I wonder if the darkness in this book can be loved but it walks the path ever darker as the book unfolds.. but it is brilliant. genuinely laugh out loud in places but also dark and disturbing in others

Fabulous

I've listened to all 5 books in the series and hope there will be a 6th book. The series is the best yet and I've been a fan for manny years. The narrator was excellent in his story telling and I loved Mary she is great ruthless but you can't help cheering her on

Amazing series

This series cannot be over hyped. Well written, funny, thought provoking books, wonderfully performed by Sean Runnette. I recommend these to anyone and everyone who has the slightest interest in Vampires, funny books, physics, magic and fire-breathing metal horses. Treat yourself to this fantastic book!

Monster?

I'm not good at reviews but this guy keeps claiming to be a monster despite having a huge aversion to evil deeds. I keep following the series solely to seem him go beyond where most characters draw the line. However it seems to be a lot of build up to very little evil comparatively speaking.
