Publisher's Summary

Educated in the Florence of Cosimo de'Medici, trained in knighthood at his father's mountaintop castle, Vittorio inhabits a world of courtly splendor and country pleasures - a world suddenly threatened when his entire family is confronted by an unholy power.

In the midst of this upheaval, Vittorio is seduced by the vampire Ursula, the most beautiful of his supernatural enemies. As he sets out in pursuit of vengeance, entering the nightmarish Court of the Ruby Grail, increasingly more enchanted (and confused) by his love for the mysterious Ursula, he finds himself facing demonic adversaries, war, and political intrigue.

Against a backdrop of the wonders - both sacred and profane - and the beauty and ferocity of Renaissance Italy, Anne Rice creates a passionate and tragic legend of doomed young love and lost innocence.

Vittorio is Volume 2 of The New Tales of the Vampires. For a full selection of Anne Rice programs available at audible.com® and to hear the author answering fan mail, visit the Anne Rice store.

wrong performer

readers voice has the pleasantness of Larry King and the enthusiasm of Ben Stein. wrong performer to read the voice of a 16 yr old boy.

Needs an update

The story itself was good and enjoyable, but it was obvious that this was originally recorded on tape. The audio was a bit fuzzy, the editing was spotty (narrator would repeat lines, or skip), and around the last few chapters, it began to sound further away, and a bit muffled. The narrator himself wasn’t bad overall though.

Good story, Awful recording

The story is good. The audio was awful. It kept skipping and repeating. Sometimes it sounds like he is reading under water. It should be removed and fixed.

Bad Audio Quality

A good story. The narrator has a nice voice, but the audio quality is garbage- like it was taped from down the hall or something. It also skips at random.

Great Story, Bad Recording.

The story is actually great but the narrator's voice, while not bad, is just not right for a 16 year old boy's voice. He is talented and does great on some of the other male characters but the fact is the main character is supposed to be 16 years old. That is the most charitable I can be about this as a whole. Sounds garbled, like it was taken directly from one of those old school "cassettes on tape." The worst thing is the editing! It repeats and even skips words throughout the whole book (maybe at the points when the cassette tape was supposed to be turned over? Not sure but it's bad!) Sounds fuzzier and fuzzier as you go. I was hoping it was going to be a couple small issues that would improve but nope-It just got worse. Very disappointing. This should be updated and the new one should be given to people that have already paid for this awful version. I can't believe Anne Rice would approve of her material being butchered in this way. The story itself is good but this version of it is not! As I said before, Very disappointed😕

On Vittorio

The quality of this audiobook leaves a little to be desired. The performance and story are great, but randomly throughout the book the audio repeats a line or a few words. This often happens mid sentence and can be distracting.

Anne Rice yes! Narration not so much

Loved the book but found the narration forced. Personally I would have enjoyed Jonathan Marosz reading something more like an Alex Cross or Dirk Pitt type caricature.
