Publisher's summary

NATIONAL BESTSELLER • With Pandora, Anne Rice began a magnificent new series of vampire novels. Now, in the second of her New Tales of the Vampires, she tells the mesmerizing story of Vittorio, a vampire in the Italian Age of Gold.

Educated in the Florence of Cosimo de' Medici, trained in knighthood at his father's mountaintop castle, Vittorio inhabits a world of courtly splendor and country pleasures—a world suddenly threatened when his entire family is confronted by an unholy power.

In the midst of this upheaval, Vittorio is seduced by the vampire Ursula, the most beautiful of his supernatural enemies. As he sets out in pursuit of vengeance, entering the nightmarish Court of the Ruby Grail, increasingly more enchanted (and confused) by his love for the mysterious Ursula, he finds himself facing demonic adversaries, war and political intrigue.

Against a backdrop of the wonders—both sacred and profane—and the beauty and ferocity of Renaissance Italy, Anne Rice creates a passionate and tragic legend of doomed young love and lost innocence.

The Audio don't match with the chapters

Viktorio wasn't a bad read, like about 10 chapters but after he became a vampire, I guess I wasn't impressed at how the angels were portrayed. Honestly, history tells us how those who believe in Christ are corrupt. And pretty much I hear the same story of how those fall away from grace. But those people do not depict our actually loving God and people are still corrupt and can be evil without learning about Christ. I read and take it with a grain of salt. Our lord Jesus Christ is actually loving and it took me opening up the Bible and reading for myself to know this. Viktorio the vampire is a great piece a fiction that should not be taken seriously. 7/10. I still like interview with the vampire more and the vampire lestat so far.

Bad Audio Quality

A good story. The narrator has a nice voice, but the audio quality is garbage- like it was taped from down the hall or something. It also skips at random.

Editing an sound quality were not acceptable

The entire middle third of the story the reader sound like he’s under water. Muffled voice. Poor quality. Similar quality to radio shows from the 1920s. It’s a shorter book, 7hr recording, but a good story. Maybe just read the book and save your credits for something else.

Vittorio the "human" is more like it.

This story spends more time (90%) in the human life of Vittorio. Not the vampire novel I thought I was purchasing. Other than that dissapointment... it was good. Kept my attention the entire time. Worth the purchase.

Disappointing Performance

What was a very interesting and far more traditional and ~Gothic vampire tale by Anne Rice was ruined by a dull, lifeless, and primarily monotone vocal performance. Additionally there were skips and repeated text in the recording that constantly threw me out of the story. It was very disappointing that the poor reading brought down what could have been an (audio) page turner.

Fascinating story

The story was intriguing but the quality was fare. Lines were repeated, the sound was fuzzy and would fluctuate volume wise.

wrong narrator for this story

He though the narrator had an amazing voice, he just wasn't a fit for this one. Especially trying to pull off a 16yr old French boy, plus also trying to attempt different other characters. They all sounded like the same person. His voice seemed better suited for documentaries.
An what made it worse was the skipping, and horrible books on tape sound. This definitely needs to be updated in all aspects
