Publisher's summary

My stepbrother used me and threw me away. Now he's the only one I can turn to.

When my car is stolen outside my new college dorm, my roommate points me to "The Vigil"—a trio of students who tackle crimes when campus security drops the ball.

The last thing I expect walking into the Vigil's office is to find Logan Brooks staring back at me.

I want nothing to do with the stepbrother I once had the world's hugest crush on. Two years ago, patching up his mysterious injuries led to a passionate hookup on the bathroom sink. And then he totally ghosted me.

But even though he looks at me like I'm dirt under his shoe, he and his distractingly hot friends insist on taking my case.

No way am I letting them investigate on their own. Working with them will give me the chance to find out what's really up with Logan. Why he was bruised and bleeding that night. Why he's shut off the whole family.

Except when our search takes an unexpected turn, I realize the truth is even more horrifying than what I thought I knew....

Great Narration and Plot

I read this about a week ago but have just been blazinf through the other books set in this world. The spice level throughout these 4 books stays on hot. The way the plot finally unfolds and comes to an end is amazing. Not even going to lie I didn't expect it
As I said I am loving the Devil's Dozen and now on the 3rd and final series that just released last week! If you love mafia, RH, spice levels at hot then this is so for you!

Good but got sloppy

Let me start with saying this… I love Eva Chance (aka Eva Chase). I was into this series until the end. I feel like one it got to Beckett’s contribution, he was pulling punches. Maybe that was the lawful thing to due but there were many other offensive things he could have done besides always being on defensive. It made him seem weak & not so much of boss as he is suppose to be. He was more boss like in crooked paradise than his beginning approach in this series. Without giving anything away. I feel like he should have just done the last thing first.

Anyways, that just my two cents but maybe that’s the way it was suppose to come across as. If that’s the case, I’m disappointed in the end character that Beckett turned into.
