Then Vera comes across a distressed young woman who is obviously in need of her kindly guidance. The young woman is looking for a missing friend. Fortunately, while cat-sitting at Tilly and Selena's, Vera finds a treasure trove: Selena's briefcase. Inside is a file about the death of an enigmatic influencer—who also happens to be the friend that the young woman was looking for.

Online, Xander had it all: a parade of private jets, fabulous parties with socialites, and a burgeoning career as a social media influencer. The only problem is, after his body is fished out of Mission Bay, the police can't seem to actually identify him. Who is Xander Lin? Nobody knows. Every contact is a dead end. Everybody claims not to know him, not even his parents.

Vera is determined to solve Xander's murder. After all, doing so would surely be a big favor to Selena, and there is nothing she wouldn't do for her future daughter-in-law.

Lovelable Clever Chinese Mother who knows everything

I loved this book and I hope there will be more Clever Vera Wong Murder mysteries in the future.

The characters are so lively, the story arch is surprisingly and the ending makes it hard to start any other book. I want to be adopted by Vera and her nosy friendenemy Winifred

Vera Does it Again ♡♡♡

I absolutely love this book, I was afraid the story would be too similar to the first book but it is its own unique story with the same vibes I enjoyed from the first book. I love Vera as a character, she is so heartwarming. I will be waiting for the next book~

Wonderful!!!

Both books in this series have made me tear up and laugh out-loud. The narrator is superb so we admire Vera’s tenacity and feel her heart as her world opens up. The murders in both books had me guessing till the end! Hope there are more in this series!!

Vera Wong Rocks

Love the story, reading and the characters. I’m an old white American lady who grew up on Christie and Sayers and Jesse Q Sutanto can hold her own in the same tradition. The Vera Wong stories make long to get back to the pre-MAGA America where immigrants might still find a happy ending.

Fantastic story and narration

This story didn’t end up being what I was expecting — it was so much better. It touches on social issues and beautifully portrays the power of found family.

I loved the first Vera Wong book and this one did not disappoint. Do yourself a favor and listen to both. Now I have to wait long time for new book, aye yaah! 😉

Love, Love, Love!

It's not often the second book in a series is better than the first. Thoroughly enjoyed both. I recommend them often. The narrator is so talented and makes the book a lot of fun. Perfect non-stress read. I hope we get to see more of Vera. Maybe in Paris?

Another home run

So happy there is a second Vera Wong adventure! I love this world and the characters in it. Eunice Wong brings the story to life perfectly! Hoping for a 3rd book in the future. Vera is a treat! Such a fun read.
