Publisher's Summary

From the number-one New York Times best-selling author Iris Johansen comes a explosive, compelling new thriller.

With his dying breath, Carl Venable, head of the CIA task force on terrorism and Jude Brandon's final link to terrorist ringleader Max Huber, gives Brandon a mandate: to keep his daughter, Rachel, safe at any cost. But Rachel Venable has a shocking, twisted past of her own, one that comes rushing back after her medical clinic in Guyana is attacked by Huber - the same man who murdered her father and kept her imprisoned for months.

Brandon and Catherine Ling, Rachel's longtime ally and fierce protector, are determined to keep Rachel out of danger, but she knows it's impossible to stay hidden when Max Huber wants you dead. As Rachel and Brandon race against the clock to bring Huber down before he can orchestrate a nuclear explosion that will lay waste to the West Coast, they also fight a growing attraction to each other - an attraction that could prove just as dangerous as Huber himself.

In this gripping, fast-paced novel full of dark secrets and tangled lies, one thing is clear: Everyone has a vendetta, and no one will rest until getting revenge.

A terrific and exciting book

It should be classified as another Catherine Ling book, not Eve Duncan with only one sentence mentioning Eve & Joe. I really enjoyed hearing about Rachel Venable & Jude Brandon, hope there’s more with them. Also please give us more of Catherine & Richard Cameron, they could become such s great duo. Great narration by Elisabeth Rodgers. This book has lots of exciting twists & turns and left us wondering about Carl Venable. Until the next one I guess. Don’t miss out on a great book.

Always great! Thanks Iris

Excellent edge of the seat story. The story in complete, but some of the characters stories feels like there should be more. Maybe we will meet them again. (I hope) Elisabeth is delightful to listen to.

I love Iris Johansen books. This one, I can't even finish. I'm not sure what it is.

Painful writing

While the overall storyline was a typical action-packed adventure, the characters were frustratingly written. Their personalities didn't fit, their supposed backstory. The female characters were stereotyped and way too dramatic about everything. I was eye rolling every 15 mins. Difficult to finish.

hoover

Great characters and and loved the suspense of the story. You will not be disappointed in The snail biting opera. It never stops you keep running and running. Will Hoover change the San Francisco coastline? What really happened to Claire's father?

Normally I love her books

I however hate anything like a romance novel. I am into the third chapter and can’t listen anymore. Enough with the oh I hate him but look how sexy he is and what a wonderful thing to think about, maybe when we escape these terrorists . GAG
