Ridiculous but fun
This was a fun escapist story. I was sucked in and wanted to see what would happen next. I thought the narration was quite good, but near the end I was almost crying with laughter at the narrator's "Blam" and "rat-a-tat-tat" gunfire. I know that the narrator had to read what was written, but the inflection on the gunshots were cartoonish and made me think of classic Batman action scenes.

Unexpectedly Good
Although I really like mysteries and thrillers, I wasn't sure I would like this, as I'm not too interested in the Russian or other Slavic mobs. Surprisingly, this book was very interesting, mostly because the characters are so "real."
The narrator is great, and does all the characters' voices, both female and male, well. This book is worth the credit. I'm on my way to finding any sequels.

Intriguing story
I thought that this story was intriguing and it kept my interest. However, I was put off by how the narrator made me feel about the two lead female characters. I thought she did a pretty good job with the male characters but Laura came off as a whiny bratty teenager. I found it hard to see her as a match for Tanner. I wasn't any fonder of Maria's "voice". Neither one of these women sounded like Johansson 's usual kick a$# female characters.
