Story
Never trust a jock. That was my first mistake. When Max Green invited me to a night party on the beach, I should have known better. The Resorties are rich kids who can’t see past their own cruelty. When Max and his friends trap me in the water, the only way for me to go is down. It would have been an ironic death, given that my father drowned in the very same waters. But that’s not what happened. Instead my entire world changed when the Lady of the Lake took me to a new realm, one that had been hidden from me my entire life.

It was an ordinary job. Another night, another asshole collector of the supernatural. I free some poor little beasties from their cages, pocket a few trinkets to pay my bills, and burn the place down on my way out. Just call me the Robin Hood of monster emancipation. I didn’t count on three manly monsters following me home like lost puppies. Stunningly hot lost puppies, but still. Now I’ve got a seductively cheeky incubus, a sweetly enthusiastic demon, and a grimly stoic angel camped out in my kitchen.

Being told that I'm not exactly human wasn't easy to accept. Neither was spending the last year training for what was to come on my 19th birthday, but I did it anyway. Feeling certain I'm ready for my new life, I soon realize nothing could have prepared me for the reality of it. Turns out, I'm the first descendant in decades to be born from two royal fae lines, but being special isn't always a good thing. All that training I did? Not so helpful when I find out a dark fae is looking to settle an old score - with me as his target.

Founded two centuries ago by a powerful tribe of Gottwa Indians, Rowan was a quiet town, so quiet that I fled after graduation. Staying away was the plan, but Mom died suddenly. Dad said she suffered a stroke after she dug up one of the ancient graves in our backyard, which happens to be the town cemetery. Creepy, I know. Creepier still, there was no corpse inside the old coffin, only fresh rose petals. As we made preparations for Mom's burial, new people began arriving in Rowan, unnervingly handsome and odd people.

Publisher's Summary
Welcome to Valkyrie High School.... Time to Reap My First Soul.
The first law of the Valkyrie is "Don't fall in love." I messed that one up...big time. I failed my sisters and fell in love with William Johnson. I've watched him for three lifetimes and a little piece of me broke every time I had to let him die.
I paid the price for breaking the first law of the Valkyrie. I lost all the memories I had of Will. That's why Sam is keeping tabs on me. She's an ever-present shadow during my time at Mattsfield High. Sam is the perfect Valkyrie. Tall. Beautiful. Heartless.
I may not remember Will, but my heart does. If Freya thinks I’m going to be a good little Valkyrie this time around...she’s wrong.
Valkyrie Landing is the first in the highly-acclaimed series Valkyrie Allegiance. Ideal for listeners of strong heroines, urban fantasy themes, and a heavy dose of Norse Mythology (as well as a spaceship or two). You'll be blown away by this character-driven trilogy that'll take you all the way to Ragnarok, so hang on tight!
This is a complete series scheduled for rapid release, so be sure to follow the author and claim your copy!

Liking How This Series Is Starting!
Valkyrie Landing by AJ Flowers is the 1st in the Valkyrie Allegiance series. Valerie, daughter of Freya is sent to earth to reap a soul that has been cursed by the Norns. I like the characters, how the storyline is playing out and love the take on Norse mythology that the author is using. Looking forward to more!

How many lives does it take to get something right. Can you overcome having your memory erased and still doing what you think is right. An interesting twist on Norse Mythology.
Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel Summary: Valerie has no memory of the past ans all she has to go on is the help from her sister Samantha and Tyler. She has been told that her job is to reap the soul of one young man Will. Now Valerie is immediately attracted to Will even though she knows as a Valkyrie the first law is that it is forbidden to love. Valerie deep down inside knows feels there is more going on than she remembers after her memories were wiped after she last failure. Valerie’s desire to prove her worth to her mother is at odds with her need to protect Will against all odds even if it seems impossible. This was a fast moving and intricate story incorporating many of the old Norse myths into present day situations. It was fascinating how the old gods translated into modern day individuals while maintaining their supernatural flair. I enjoyed listening to the audio book as the narrator brought each character alive as their story unfolded.

good listen
I've never read a story where the valkyrie were the main species so I was very intrigued from the beginning on the norse mythology references. There is a girl who is the love child of Freya and Odin, and thus more unique/special then her other valkyrie sisters. Shes got a hot warrior best friend (who is my favorite character in the series) and a sister who attempt to help Val rescue a soul. The soul is actually a previous love of Val's and they kind of know but dont really remember each other because their memories were wiped. I think there is a vague love triangle of sorts but it never actually develops that far yet. Personally I am team Ty! The guy Val falls for isn't written with any personality so its hard to like him. I can see this definitely becoming a plot in the next book. We still don't know too much about the world of the supernatural as most of this story takes place on earth. There seems to be a war brewing though so I hope we get more insight to the homeland places. I think there are alot of things yet to play out and cant wait to see where this story goes.

3.25 STARS ★★★✩✩
Can I interest you in some… futuristic Norse mythology? Then welcome to the world of valkyries. Obviously, for people who enjoy nitpicking mythological facts, this might not be the tea. ⤐ Overall. What I noticed straight away was A.J's writing. It's typically not the overly prose-like writing of some hyper-artistic writer that get's my attention. They tend to lose themselves in their art which makes it hard for the reader to follow their true intention: narrating a story. For examples of such unnecessary prose look here and here. A. J. did a great job finding a way to tell an interesting story while making the best of the writing tools given to her. Just some elaborate vocabulary here, a witty phrase there and some exciting syntax in between and I'm a happy little reader. Plot-wise, this was pretty much the Norse equivalent of a Greek Tragedy™. At first, the whole I saw him and I knew he was my soulmate narrative really put me off. As we unravel the background to this sentiment, however, I actually came to appreciate A.J.'S interpretation of a somewhat futuristic version of Norse mythology. Without me actually noticing it, throughout the story, the characters wriggled their way into my heart as well. I got quite annoyed with them in the beginning but came to understand them and see them for what they are: old creatures with desires and flaws. The only criticism I can truly bring to the table - and there must be some considering my rating - that the engagement rate wasn't exactly peaking at any point of the story. ⤐ What’s happening. As a valkyrie, it is Val's job to find a soul and lead it to the afterlife, to life in Valhalla for eternity. But Val keeps finding herself in a sort of Groundhog Day situation: The soul she found and deemed to be hers forever ... she has met him before. And this time, Val's determined to not let anything keep her from loving Will. Not even Freya or Odin or past lovers-turned-best friends. _____________________ 4 STARS. Would stay up beyond my typical hours to finish it. I found some minor details I didn't like, agree with or lacked in some kind but overall, this was enjoyable and extraordinary. 3 STARS. Decent read that I have neither strongly positive nor negative feelings about. Some thinks irked me and thus it does not qualify as exceptional. _____________________ Many thanks to the author A. J. Flowers for providing me with this free audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Valkyrie YA Book!
This is a great YA book, I really enjoyed it. Val is sent to reap Will's soul before darkness takes it. When Val is sent to earth she realizes that this is not the first time she has met Will. She finds out that he has been reincarnated at least three times before, which means she has failed to reap his soul before. The first rule of the Valkyrie is don't fall in love. Val has already broke that rule. This is full of adventure. Will Val save Will in time? The cliffhanger leaves you wanting so much more. Can't wait to find out what happens next.
