Publisher's Summary

The worst has happened. Texas has fallen. It's up to Ava to get it back.

Without the support of the Lone Star State, the Alliance has no hope against the powerful and corrupt regime which has hijacked the majority of the United States.

Still mourning her loss, Ava has seen more death and destruction than she ever bargained for. She's finished with fighting, but she may hold the key to America's survival.

An unexpected visitor implores her to take on one last impossible task. If she turns down the request, it could spell the end of freedom and the Alliance, but if she accepts the challenge, victory is by no means guaranteed.

Ava has endured as much heartache as she can handle, but if America dies, if the Alliance fails, things will only get worse. She has to make a choice, and she must act before the clock runs out.

As with all books by Mark Goodwin, this book contains no profanity and no embarrassing sex scenes. However, if you're offended by conservative principles and references to Scripture, this book might not be for you.

Loved this series, loved this author.

I can never wait for a sale when a Mark Goodwin book comes out. I always have to have it right when its released and I am never disappointed. I listen to his series of books over and over and over again. In book three: United We Stand, he keeps you on the edge of your seat. The author has shown the growth and maturity of the heroine, and the frailty as well as there are no super heroes. Thanks for yet another great series. I look forward to the next one.

Where is the hope?

The story was fantastical instead of hopeful and instead of thoughtful.

Every time I buy one of these post-apocalypse books I find a reason to enjoy them and this has been the only author that has offered any quasi-realistic book with Christ at the center. But this was not one of those stories.

This story was about "what can 'i do' in this life to find the most gain during this life."

doesn't anyone remember how horrible the story turned out for Christ in the end of what this world could offer HIM? Or what about the horrible ends this world dished out to the apostles. And yet, those stories had hope, because their eyes were SET on things above. Not looking at the loss of this world as value when compared with the coming reward.

So again I ask, where's the hope?

Christ PROMISED this would would eat us alive, why? He answered it himself, "If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would fight."

And not fighting the way the world fights will get you put in a place like what 2 women in this story faced by being force executed and told their organs were needed by non Christians.

The stories of those women had a good ending and i would love to hear prepper stories that end in hope, like those women had. Laughing, crying, hoping, praying, singing....instead of being just like the rest of the world and taking what can be taken by forcing your beliefs on others, just like the world does.

Isn't it paul who says, "Why not rather be wronged? No, but you yourselves do wrong."

REAL fiction would tell a fictional story about how horrible this world is to a character and how, because we don't fight back, they take more and more. And in that story the character would be tried, abused, taken advantage of and pressured BEYOND their ability to cope and even have conversations with God about their despair (like Job did) and though they might end up with a wrong point of view LIKE JOB DID, and God has to put them in their place and remind them of what they're really hoping for, the character wouldn't loose hope. Even as they hang on a cross.

And even Jesus asked the whole world, "My God...Why have YOU forsaken me?!" The world forsook him not the father. he surrendered and yet the world pursued him till they thought they won. Men can only take your life, they can't take your soul and they did their worst...and HE won.

I want to hear fiction stories like that. Because it's what I experience all the time in my life. Men do their worst and its hard and trying beyond measure, yet I smile because Christ is my Hope. and it can never be taken. I loose everything that this world has to offer, over and over...wife, family, wealth, recognition, appreciation, satisfaction, things that bring me joy...and yet they can't touch my Hope, faith, nor love.

So... I'll keep looking and waiting for those type of good stories.

A little disappointed

I love Mark Goodwin books, and this series was also awesome! But this last book in the series seemed a little rushed to me, and not realistic how Ava’s nemesis kept appearing. It might have been the good vs evil thing that Goodwin is so good at bringing into the light, and it went over my head? Still a great listen, but I was expecting more. But hey, I’m a landscaper not an author!

A great final book

I've loved this series and this is a great final book! This series has been odd for me, while I agree with Ava on some important things I also disagree on some important things. The two sides in these books are polar opposites, one at each extreme, in real life I wouldn't want either to win. It made for a very exciting book with people so passionate about their side being the one in the right.

If you've read the first two books then you do not want to miss this ending, and if you haven't, then these books need to be read in order.

There is a lot of religion - Christianity in particular - in these books, Ava's faith is very strong and religion is one of the key issues in the war. As someone who's not religious this concerned me before listening to book one, having finished the series I think that the religious content was done well and in ways that enhanced the story.

The character voices are fantastic and the tone and pace of the delivery have been consistent through all three books. I've loved listening to the story.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Amazing novel

I loved story line while staying true to God’s word. I pray events like this never happens, it is easy to see it as a possibly with the direction our country is going.
