Against his will, Thaden was transported elsewhere in a big flash of light along with millions of other Humans from Earth, to a place where they would train to become Contenders in a whole new world. Unfortunately for him, something occurred during his transference into the “Training” program, and he was ejected from the whole training process and sent into the open mouth of an active volcano for bodily disposal.

Through a miraculous and horrifying series of events, Thaden managed to survive, only to find himself alone in the middle of a dungeon with no clothes, no weapons, and no way to defend himself. Worst of all, the strange new Assimilation System automatically assigned a Class to him without his knowledge, which ended up sticking him with a Support-based Class that has absolutely no offensive capabilities. As an Assistant Healer, none of his spells did any damage and he couldn’t even pick up a weapon to defend himself if he wanted to!

But all hope isn’t lost, as Thaden quickly learns something unique about himself that might just allow him to survive long enough to escape the dungeon. Sure, all his new magical spells might be focused on healing and protection, but what does it mean when he seemingly won’t ever run out of Mana…?

This story contains an overpowered MC with a normally non-combat Class, LitRPG progression mechanics and stats, and isekai/portal fantasy elements. Contains no sexual content or harems.

Bones are there, but gets lost in the mechanics

I enjoyed the idea of the story, but the characters motivations sound impossibly whiny with the narrators inflections. The very long lists of stats take up a majority of the listening time leaving very little story... It's okay, but I won't come back to it.

Is this an AI Narrator?

The narrator sounds like an AI DMV clerk, lacking any emotion or voice fluctuation. Someone get this man an energy drink.

Nice start!

If you want to see how a pure healer is surviving after being transported to a new world and equally screwed over and over powered this book should be a nice fit for you. Definitely making the best of a bad and confusing new start. I’m looking forward to see how things go in the future and this book set up the story nicely. A different experience from his other books but this author really knows how to always create whole new systems for dungeons! All his dungeons run differently, even if some more than others. Give it a chance if you like this other books and writing style you probably won’t regret it.

Great Start!

Better than I expected! I've read a pile of litrpg type books and this is one of the better ones. I just wish there were 10 more books in the series ready to go!

only thing was the when stats were read they took forever..... besides that great book will definitely look forward to next book.

Op Protagonist

Jonathan Brooks did an great job with this one, as did Miles Meili. The beginning sections are a bit crunchy on the stat blocks, but it does become a bit smoother and more streamlined later on. The synopsis does also state that the MC has infinite mana, and while that provides an incredible advantage that doesn't make him OP inherently, when combined with the available spells it quickly changes the name of the game. There are some limitations in place that you'll learn about later on, as well as the seeding of some plot points that explain things more. All in all an enjoyable read.

Relatable MC. Close adherence to MMO tropes that make players (or former players) nostalgic. Fun story.

Review

Overall, a pretty good audiobook. The author tends to drag out some of his explanations, which could be explained in one or two or even three words, but apart from that it is a pretty decent audiobook hopefully the next installment bills more on the universe and looking forward to it.

Dude wtf

The beginning was a little iffy, BUT the rest was GREAT, if there is one thing I could sing the praises of would be the cliffhanger, that was amazing. I am most def listening to the next one. The only gripe I have is how some of the notifications that Thaden gets seem to go a little bit too long and get a little stale, but other than that it was great.
