Publisher's Summary

Would you - could you? - uphold the law at the cost of those you love? Falcio val Mond, First Cantor of the Greatcoats, is on the brink of fulfilling his dead King's dream: Aline is about to take the throne and restore the rule of law once and for all. But for the Greatcoats, nothing is ever that simple.

In neighbouring Avares, an enigmatic new warlord is uniting the barbarian armies, and, even worse, he is rumoured to have a new ally: Falcio's old nemesis Trin. With the armies of Avares at her back, she'll be unstoppable.

Falcio, Kest and Brasti go racing north to stop her, but in those cold, treacherous climes they discover something altogether different - and far more dangerous: a new player plans to take the throne of Tristia, and the Greatcoats, for all their determination and skill, may not be able to stop him.

Enjoyed all four books

I really enjoyed these books. Not quite Brandon Sanderson or Tad Williams but almost. Kept me listening when ever possible. Loved the humour and a great narrator.

Absolutely amazing

I'd never heard of these books or the author before stumbling accords them on Audible. I'd been on the lookout for new books after exhausting all books by Brendan Sanderson, Robin Hobb, Brent Weeks, Jim Butcher, Joe Abercrombie, Brian McClellan, and as many other fantasy stories as I could get my hands on.

So when I picked up these books, I was hoping for the next series to hold my attention over the course of many weeks, and I particularly enjoyed the story of the Greatcoats, and their ode to the swashbuckling greats.

I look forward to reading more by Sebastian de Castell :).

Fantastic. Better than 'The Wheel of Time'.

It made me laugh, it made me gasp. And yes cry. Beautifully written and narrated.

absolutely amazing

Read the other 3 in the series and listened to this one and makes me wish I listened to all 4. Only book series I've ever finished and I loved it , Brasti, Kest and Falcio are possibly my favourite trio in fiction and reading/listening to their journey was a pleasure. Anyone who sees this and is not sure please give it a try, it will definitely be worth it to any fan of plot twists, fun, emotional highs and lows and most of all Brasti Goodbow

Best of the bunch

A satisfying end to a great saga. A simpler story than the previous three books but all the better for it.

A great conclusion!

Look, if you've made it thus far, then you're obviously invested in the adventures of all our Tristian heroes and villains.
This review is simply here to say that the the story maintains, and even ramps up its momentum to an exciting and satisfying conclusion. Not gonna lie, there are a few tears to be shed before you get to the end, but frankly, if there weren't, it wouldn't be worth the price if admission.
Enjoy the story, listen to the end and then read everything de Castell has ever written.

As brilliant as ever

Sebastien De Castell is a genius, the way his mind works is amazing. I love this series of books and highly recommend it to anyone who loves adventure, love and friendship. Be warned it gets dark in places but it's a wonderful series and I'm glad it was recommended to me.

Great Listen

I started the Greatcoats Quartet as a means to add some background noise to the blanks in my everyday routine but I was quickly drawn in thanks to Joe Jameson's amazing performance throughout. His narration gave de Castell's complex characters the life they so deserved.
