"We'll drop anything we're doing [for] a new Randy White novel and be glad we did." (Denver Post)

Randy Wayne White's ninth Doc Ford novel starts out as a fun excursion for four divers off the Florida coast. After a tragic accident, only one diver is found alive two days later—naked atop a light tower in the Gulf of Mexico. What happened during those 48 hours? Doc Ford thinks he's prepared for the truth. He isn't. As he dives deeper into the details of the accident, his investigation takes him to South America and reveals a darker criminal conspiracy he wasn't prepared to uncover.

Randy Wayne white covers an eclectic mix of things from the manatee controversy of limiting access to waterways and fishing rights along the coast to protecting manatees to a reenactment of an actual loss of four divers disappear on the gulf coast...I had a keen interest in his observations about the abilities of octopus he also discussed and brought the light through his story. to the complex relationships in Central America with the United States, the story was okay and interesting plot the performance in the yard of version was alright.

a good story in the series

This has been my absolute favorite book written by Mr. White. The story is great and is based off true actual events with a lot of great science, current events (at the time) and political references.

Fascinating fiction but with a lot of fact built in

I’ve read most of the Doc Ford books and listened to many. The character is “human” and someone you want to be successful. As a bonus, the science, history and staging of the books are non-fiction in a relatable style. Thanks to Mr White and Gouldall.

Empathy?
