The World Building is Stellar

I read/listen to “The Others” yearly! This includes all short stories and books in the world! While this is its own unique unaffiliated story and world, it will join my annual must read. Anne Bishop can cast a spell when it comes to dragging you into her world and never leaving you or leaving you wanting more! more! more!!! No spoilers here Just use “the coin” (hahaha) and get the book. So excited for more!!!

Amazing and immersive story and world

I cannot wait for the rest of this series to be released! Such wonderful world building and character backstory as usual from Anne.

Anne Bishop just keeps getting better!!! Absolutely brilliant!!! I really enjoyed the reader too, she brought the story alive.

A superb and engrossing read!

Jesse Vilinsky is an excellent narrator.
I have read and enjoyed the series Black Jewels and A Novel of the Others,so I am well acquainted with the books of Anne Bishop. Her remarkable talent to create new worlds is as fascinating as it is entertaining.
Turns of Fate takes you to the realm of the Fey and it's relationship with a modern human wolrd.
The story is part police procedural and part fantasy with the two creating an interesting and addicting desire to know what comes next. I devoured this book in 2 morsels (I was greedy).
What happens when 2 realities shares a space occupied by mankind and Fey is iffy at the best of times.
These Fey are legendary not the sweet and mischief makers or sensual and capricious kind you may be acquainted with.

As for me I am going back for a second helping.

Magical and a little spooky a must read/ listen

Magical and slightly spooky Anne Bishop is a master storyteller. Her tales are haunting in the best of ways. The characters are always believable in alternate reality settings.I will be reading this again and again;a new favorite. If you liked ms. Bishop’s the “others” novels you will truly enjoy this novel . Buy it now!

Interesting

Possible Spoilers:
Detective Beth Fahey has joined the Penwych Police Force’s Special Investigations Team. There are 6 towns on the banks of the Fate River, in the center of which is the Isle of Wyrd, where there exists a ’Convergence of the Uncanny’. The humans on shore can take the ferry to Destiny Park for a card reading to answer their questions, or desperate requests. The Arcane who live on & in Wyrd believe in free will and intention. Words have power. Intentions matter. Everyone chooses their fate.
This story reminds me most of Bishop’s ‘Others’ series with Humans at odds with different races. They want what they can benefit from the Wyrd, but then want to blame them for their own choices.
Vilinsky’s voice was good for this narration. She fit the FMC. But she needs serious work on voicing different characters. At minimum, at least get some differentiation between male or female.

It’s like an episode from the twilight zone

The twilight zone is mentioned in the very beginning. The longer I listened the more it sounded like the twilight zone stories. I like how the story progressed from how completely terrifying the Arcana are in the beginning and how at the end you understand who they are and what they are. The reader was good. Some of the male voices were rough to the point. It was hard to hear what they said. But the vast majority of the book was well read and interesting. I haven’t read anything like this in a long time. I think anyone who starts this will find it well worth the read I hope she decides to write another.

I am sad that I have to wait for the next book

It is a joy to find a book series you love. However, It is sad and frustrating waiting for the next in the series!!!

It is a high recommendation from me when I am sad when a book ends as I want to keep reading.

As for a review. If you loved the others, you will love this series too.

Loved it!

I love Anne Bishop books so when I found a new book starting a new series I was absolutely about to read it! I was not disappointed and can’t wait til the next book comes out.
