Disappointing for Rollins

I love Rollins Books (I own them all) but this one felt rushed and like he wasnt sure what to fill it with. The beginning was traditional Rollins and then it just went down from there. Fast paced is good but not when it rushes the story to the point of feeling half written. It could have been an exciting book.
The Narrator, I think the narrator was a poor choice. the accents and the sound just wasn't right for what was being depicted.

Could have been a good story

Annoying heroine—whiny. The narrator’s accent for this character is inaccurate, laughable. Was she supposed to be an old “southern belle” or confused Texan? The narration overall was pretentious. Annoying as the heroine. This book is an unsatisfying departure from previous books by this author.

A classic Rollins novel; you think you know what’s gonna happen. You are wrong. It is awesome.

I’ve read a lot of James‘s novels. You know how they start, you know how they end; you kind of think you know how they’re gonna go. But somehow he manages to weave different, fantastical stories. Every time! Adding just enough realism so that it makes you go - whaaaat? :)

This was a great novel. If you have some time, pick it up and read it. You will not be disappointed. I really hope he turns this into a series, because we need to know more about all these characters and how they’re bringing what they find to life.

Not bad, but not Sigma

The story lacked the excitement and energy I've come to expect from Rollins. Still better than 99% of what's out there in the genre (if you appreciate the true science/history elements), but not at his usual standard. I actually spent most of the book thinking it was a newer author using his name the way Cussler and Patterson put their names on things. Still worth a listen if you're a fan.

Story sounded like Scooby-doo and the gang have an adventure in Europe!

The set up with the college kids was not believable to me. The narrator sounded a little too dramatic, too dire. I liked the factual and historical elements in the story, but I’ not sure I’d buy another one of his books.
