Book review

I couldn’t agree more that this should be required reading for anybody entering a new job, hiring a new employee, or entering a new relationship. It is imperative reading for those who have grown up in untrustworthy homes, and don’t even know how to strengthen their trust muscle, or that they even have one. Excellent excellent material! God speaks through Henry Cloud to give the rest of us Gods clarity in how He created us! Thank you for writing this book Dr. Cloud!

Great Book!!!

I highly recommend this book for anybody in any profession whether you’ve been betrayed or not as you most likely will or know someone who has.

A rare "Top Recommend"

It is rare that wisdom and people-sense come together in a single book. I highly recommend this book to any adolescent entering the maelstrom of relationships, any adult who has been betrayed and anyone who has been frustrated knowing who they can to trust.

The content is easy to absorb. unlike most psychologists, This book is full of clear examples that not only illustrate the point, but make it easy to remember.

The part of the book that I was surprised to see was the section on rebuilding trust. The other sections were mandatory, but to actually formulate how to rebuild trust was more than I expected of the author. If you have anyone you want to reconcile with this book will be ultimately helpful.

Great book

I enjoyed listening to this book especially in light of a relationship issue with my son's mom.
First half of the book is explaining what trust relies on.
second half is all about how you can look at repairing trust with someone.
I will definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to repair trust whether it be family, coworkers, or significant other.

One thing I really really enjoyed is the author's use of Bible verses to compliment his points. It really helped reinforce his points.

Lifts the foggy definition to trust.

For those of us who have been gaslighted our entire lives, the author clearly defines what trust looks like, feels like, and what we can rely on to believe in ourselves for trust-defining boundaries.

Must read if you’re in a relationship of any kind

This book provides a helpful and productive framework to understand and approach trust. This book is validating and challenging. It validates when you’ve been hurt or betrayed and it challenges the offended to see things differently, to heal. It also offers helpful questions (I would recommend journaling) to guide you into yourself; that self-introspection is so valuable to having different relational experiences.

101 level course for life!

Eye opening information about how trust is foundational and must be addressed when not functioning as it should.

Great content but could have been condensed

This book has very helpful content, but at times has the annoying habit of repeating the same point over and over again. It could have been reduced by about 1/3.

Better than a marriage counselor.

Read this with my husband to repair our marriage. It was informative, succinct, thought provoking and engaging. I believe this book should be required reading for any marriage.

I now understand the basis for developing trust!
