"So many of us hold a deep belief that we were born unworthy," reflects Adyashanti, "inadequate, unlovable, and alone." But what if, in truth, we weren't put here to pay penance, change our karma, or "fix" ourselves? What if we chose to be here because we so loved the world that we poured ourselves into it - to make it whole again, to restore "the hidden divinity amid the disaster"? With Healing the Core Wound of Unworthiness, we're invited to entertain that possibility.

The life of Jesus offers each one of us a map to the direct realization of our eternal and divine nature. On Resurrecting Jesus, Adyashanti excavates the deep, mythic underpinnings of the Gospels to show how we can all find in the story of Jesus the spark for our own spiritual unfolding. Jesus crossed all of the boundary lines that separated the people of his time because he viewed the world from the perspective of what unites us, not what divides us.

The great human quest is to discover who we really are-a discovery that changes our lives and the lives of those around us. With The Deep Heart, spiritual teacher and psychotherapist Dr. John J. Prendergast invites us on a pilgrimage within. The "deep heart" is Prendergast's term for our heart center-a subtle center of emotional and energetic sensitivity, relational intimacy, profound inner knowing, and unconditional love. "The heart area is where we feel most deeply touched by kindness, gratitude, and appreciation, yet it is also where we feel most emotionally wounded".

One thousand years ago in the valley of Kashmir, a great Tantric master named Ksemaraja wrote his masterpiece: the Pratyabhijna-hrdaya, which means "The Essence of the Recognition Philosophy" - recognition, that is, of oneself as a direct expression of the universal divine Consciousness. Recognition also that this Consciousness is, in truth, all that exists, and that its five fundamental powers of awareness, enjoyment, willing, knowing, and acting are the sacred endowments of every sentient being.

Story
In this book of key spiritual teachings from unpublished discourses, the great Advaita Master, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, teaches us that we are not limited to the body. Because of our mistaken body identity, we feel separate from what we truly are. Our identification with the body and mind subjects us to endless cycles of pleasure and pain, desire and fear, which cause us to search beyond ourselves for that which we believe we lack.

Humanity now, perhaps more than in any previous time, has an opportunity to create a new, saner, more loving world. This will involve a radical inner leap from the current egoic consciousness to an entirely new one. In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. Then gently, and in very practical terms, he leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are and learn to live and breathe freely.

Publisher's Summary
"We've been taught that awakening is difficult," explains Adyashanti, "that to wake up from the illusion of separation takes years. But all it really takes is a willingness to look into the depths of your experience here and now." True Meditation gives you the opportunity to reclaim the original purpose of meditation, as a gateway to "the objectless freedom of being".

Very Nice, Different and Refreshing
In reading other reader comments I almost didn't buy this, so now I am writing a review to aid those who might make the mistake of not getting this. Other sites reviewers rated this very highly, but another reviewer here said it was not as described and no mediation techiniques were offered. I disagree.
I think that reader may have been looking for a more guided form of meditation technique. This author teaches you to let go of trying to control your meditative practice and experience it on a more organic level. It is very effective if you are looking to examine deep meditation with an emphasis on spirtual awakening rather than guided meditation for relaxation or to achieve other goals. Very very nice, relaxing and easy to understand.

He's the real deal
If you could sum up True Meditation in three words, what would they be?
Everything this guy talks about, I identify and relate with. He writes from real experiences and insights he discovered on his own and not through outside sources, or made up to make it sound poetic or philosophical. I know this because I've done the same and came to the exact same truths and insights. It's like reading my own thoughts on awakening and what it means, only it sounds better coming from him.
What did you like best about this story?
It's a true account of his experiences with awareness.
What about Adyashanti’s performance did you like?
You can't tell he's reading from his book. It sounds like conversation.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
True Meditation
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to understand what real meditation is. If you don't fully understand what he talks about, it's only because you haven't had his experiences. But trust me, it's all true and if you DO understand what he writes about, it's a bit mind blowing.

A mind blowing speech
A cut through all the meditation obstacles, especially those which make you chase your tails. Got shocked at the end with a radical shift in awareness. I was asking “ what am I” and found out that there is no one is asking, the one who was asking the question, was the same who was looking for the one who was asking, its funny and super deep and radical. Experienced the non-dual self recognition, and at the same time, I saw the dual, illusive self/reality or ego.
Highly recommended.

Adyashantis teaching is great, rest is not
I really like Adyashanti's teachings because it goes from his personal experience, no one's else and his realization can be seen sort of radiating from him.
I didnt like music and songs between and I for this price it's kind of short - so that's why I have those lower stars on story and performance.

See for yourself what I tell you to see
Generally I like Adyashanti and this was no exception. However I have to say that in the meditations there's quite a bit of directing what the experience is supposed to be. Which wouldn't bug me if he didn't emphasize "your own experience" so much.
Maybe it works for some.

This is a different appt to meditation then I've
This is a different appt to meditation then I've heard before. Everyone I've worked with in person says to follow the breath or a Mantra. If you have a thought you ignore it and return to the breath or Mantra. Here the author says to toss thess and other techniques out and just sit! What do you do when you're confronted with an angry person? Focus on the breath? A Mantra? You focus on who you really are without ego.
Go threw this teaching and apply it. If you do you'll see a path to let anger and such leave your life. I combined this with Don't Bite That Hook and I found myself with e angry for a day. Try it yourself.

Not Bad
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
This book in theory I would recommend doing a chapter at a time
Has True Meditation put you off other books in this genre?
The Contents of the book is very heavy in places and very lacking regarding the source of meditation content. It was not very helpful as a starter for anyone who does meditation not much content or wisdom at all.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Adyashanti?
I would recommend the author. But the narrator at the end had a really annoying voice and got a bit on my nerves.
Did True Meditation inspire you to do anything?

Some great pointers but lacked clear instructions.
I did enjoy this recording of Adyashanti’s. It was mainly a collection of talks or conversations related to three different stances on meditation- letting go of control, letting be what is, and the essence of self-inquiry. There were some excellent pointers and points brought up and explored. All the right “words” were there. However, I felt that some simple, clear instructions and time set aside for the listener to inquire or reflect themselves in silence would have been valuable to include. Without this time, the work tends to be a passive listening and all too easily brushed over or taken on as a new belief system. There needs to be some actual experience in these three stances explained, and without some clear instructions or time set aside, it seems lacking. Still, overall a good audio.
