Publisher's Summary

Build. Evolve. Conquer. The dawn of the Troll Nation has begun....

Roark von Graf - former noble and hedge-mage, current mid-level mob in a MMORPG - has taken down the dungeon Lord of the Cruel Citadel, but the battle has only started.

Lowen, right hand to the Tyrant King, has come to Hearthworld, and he is building an army of his own. Worse, Lowen and company have taken over one of the most powerful dungeons in the game, The Vault of the Radiant Shield. Even as a Jotnar and a newly minted Dungeon Lord, Roark is supremely outclassed and he bloody well knows it. If he’s going to weather what’s to come and topple the Tyrant King, he’ll have to unlock the secrets of the stolen World Stone Pendant, master his new Hexorcist class, form some very unlikely allies, and most important...grief some heroes. Let the games begin!

From James A. Hunter, author of the litRPG epic Viridian Gate Online, and eden Hudson, author of Path of the Thunderbird and the Jubal Van Zandt Series, comes an exciting new litRPG, dungeon-core adventure you won’t want to put down!

It’s a good continuation, but mostly filler

There’s a lot to love here. But I went in thinking this would be the final book in the series. Here, mostly every problem introduced is solved by the end of the book, but no real progress is made on the whole tyrant king plot line that drives the series. There is some good character development and it ends in a better place than where it started, but I really hope this doesn’t turn into another endless series that keeps getting progressively closer to a conclusion, but never actually reaches it

Complete Letdown

This book takes the intriguing and fun story and characters from the first two books and ruins it.

I don’t care about any characters other than Kaz because they all have boring back stories. For example, the authors write that Grif is old and fought in an arena...then nothing. Oh and by the way, he has one eye, so he’s suddenly interesting.

Then there’s the repetition of adjectives over and OVER again. Every single time Mae is mentioned, they have to call her the “buxom cook.” We get it, she has big breasts, so don’t say 20 times.

The thing I hated the most, though, was the terrible romance. I don’t see the reason why the author had to shove one boring and distracting romance, much less TWO. It’s weird, treated badly, and just made want to pause the audiobook and listen to something else every time it came up.

The only reason I finished it was because Nick Podehl made it sound interesting. Unfortunately, I’m wouldn’t recommend anyone to use a credit on this book, and I certainly won’t use one for the 4th book.

An overall joy

This book had a great storyline that kept me engaged the entire time. Character development is solid. Nick Podehl is by far my favorite fantasy genre narrator. His voices are fantastic and he really brings the characters to life. I can't wait to listen to the next one.

Excellent Continuation

This series is quickly becoming a favourite, for how often it puts a smile on my face.
It's a well-written, excellently-narrated, fairly light but fun adventure, and one I'll definitely be listening to again in the future :D

Unique!

One of the newest twists In rpg story writing I have listened to in ages. Genuinely enjoyed the characters and flow of the story. I think it has it all, might just be what you are after if you fancy something different from the norm but still keeping all the great elements of fantasy.

Bacon is salt!

The three books that I have listened to so far have been some of the best hours audible hours to date.

Having had many years in rpg both board games and online, the writers have definitely scribed the feelings felt when both levelling and the pure 'griefing' elation of getting one up on stuck up a...., anyways, the books are fantastic.

Salt for the wounds, greatly implies there are many other stories that can come from the lead characters best friend and especially for those that love rpg they would know that the best adventures start in a tavern / Inn.

Keep it up authors and long may these worlds live!

For the SALT

Wickedly bad as story line, the hero slang made me chuckle every time.

Another Amazing Listen

So im a big can of this series as the ideas and characters behind it work so well and the team up of Hudson and Hunter are great.
This had me all ears open as i experienced it and of course this doesn't account for i have the book already but this is one of these series that must have an accompanying audio and so it does with the talenymrs of Podehl doing it justice.
Well recommended and enjoyed

I’ve waited too long

So the first two books were ok but I wasn’t so sure about buying the 3rd one and as I’ve come to realise, waiting was a mistake.
This book had quite a good amount of action as well as well as story profession. It greatly expands the relationship between Rorik and Zeera as well as Rorik and PawnerBoner (if that’s how you write his nickname), which was quite a surprise for me. One another thing that really appealed to me was that there was a lot happening but it all clearly led to that one point which was securing Troll nation and making sure it prospers. You wanna know what is the Troll Nation? Well go and read than.
(This is not a paid promotion or anything like that I simply liked the book and wanted people to know it)

Failing for the sake of failing.

For a start I really enjoyed the narrator's voice acting for the different human players. Yet I do feel that the story let down this installment quite a bit. From a progression stand point I understand the point of gaining allies and growing in power( which is what the book boils down to) Yet its implementation left alot to be desired. The frost prison arc was an unfunny joke. The Deus ex machina admin kidnapping was lazy and the 'romance' is corny as hell.

Even though a deadline was introduced I felt no urgency considering how many times the mc was bailed out during the book.

The evolution was lackluster considering all that happened was listing the same evolution tree twice, then picked the best option.

you cant expect me to care about mcs motivations and backstory when the story is mired in wish fulfillment elements.

All I can say is that the original drive the MC had and what made him interesting has faded for me at least.

Great story, Great Narrator

I love this series, the book is enjoyable if feels like you are taking a light harted journey with the characters and the nerator makes them all come alive with his unique voices for each of the characters.

Keep up the good work. I can't wait for the next book
