Shallow

The whole book felt a bit shallow. I liked it, but then it tried to be something it wasn't toward the end. This is, in reality, a teen romance book. Yes, there's some edgy, steamy scenes, but it felt like the guy had very little reason to even dislike Rain and that the entire premise was built upon nothing at all. Then it felt like toward the end someone was like "Nah, we need more, it's not enough" so they added in this extra thing that was kind of cringe and it just made me feel like the book was far beyond done at that point. There was just too much for me to look the other way about, too much where you had to be like "oh ok, that's how it is now all the sudden... alright..." and those times grew to be a bit too much for my liking. I liked the idea of Rain building up her self-esteem throughout though, that was interesting and I liked seeing how she changed throughout. So I guess all-in-all it was an alright book but it's not my favorite from Becca Steele.

Dark high school bully romance!

This is a bully dark romance story, Carter and Raine's story is not an easy one, it's standalone, however, you will find some characters from the previous series. Raine wants to be under the radar, Carter is the King of the school, he doesn't like her, she needs to survive. If you love high-school dark bully romance I strongly recommend you this book, better yet get the audiobook because the narrators Gregory Salinas and Stephanie Nemeth-Parker did a fantastic job, and who doesn't love the sexy voice of Gregory Salinas really?

What a Wild Ride!!!

Trick Me Twice is an enemies to lovers bully romance involving Carter who is basically one of the "kings" of the school, and Raine, his neighbor, who he has dubbed Plain Raine, until one night when she tricks him and everything changes.

Carter and Raine had a back and forth, angsty and tumultuous relationship throughout the whole book, but within that it was clear at times how much Carter cared for Raine and how much he wanted to be with her but also how much he wanted to protect her, and he didn't know how to do both. A common theme in bully books is this back and forth, he's a jerk, no maybe he is a good guy, nope he definitely ruined any chance he had, well perhaps he has some shred of humanity, nope I was wrong...so definitely be prepared for the ride because Carter definitely takes the reader on one doozy of a ride. But when it really matters and push comes to shove, he shows up.

Overall I enjoyed the book. The narration was absolutely fantastic. Both narrators absolutely nailed this story and all the emotion they put in to their words, and I would definitely highly recommend both narrators. I look forward to reading more from this author including more about some of the other characters that were in this book. #TheFlock #PinkFlamingoProductions

Wonderful duet narration!

Can the "King" of the high school fall for the shy quiet smart girl or will he cause her ruin?

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook mostly because the narration is fantastic! The narrators do an incredible job and it is performed in duet narration which is awesome! I really wish all audiobooks were performed in this style. It really helps you listen without having to pretend a male isn't doing a female voice and vicer versa.

I really hope the author makes more audiobooks in this style. It was a really good listening experience.

Loved this!!

Rain is quiet and shy, she isn’t in the spotlight. She prefers to keep to herself and sees costumes for the drama team.

Carter is one of the kings is the school, and he doesn’t like Rain. His parents always use Rain as an example of how he should be. He hates that. And he takes it out on her.

This story has a lot of twists and turns, and it will surprise you….. and you’ll love it. Becca Steele has created a whole world at Allstone and they characters are interesting and appealing.

Gregory Salinas and Stephanie Nemeth-Parker did an excellent narration of these characters and this story.

Enemies To Lovers Bully Romance

Trick Me Twice by Becca Steele is a stand-alone enemies to lovers high school bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Gregory Salinas and Stephanie Nemeth-Parker.

I absolutely love Becca’s books! I really enjoyed the chemistry between Raine and Carter. Their relationship is a bit messed up but you can’t help but root for them.

I really enjoyed that this book is set in the same universe as The Four series and references characters from the other series. It was great to get more Lena and Cassius!

Gregory and Stephanie did a great job on the narration. I love duet narration! I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would highly recommend this book if you love enemies to lovers or bully romances.

Treat Me Twice

I received this audiobook via a promo code at my request from Aud-Obsession & The Flock and this is my voluntary review.

This is a spinoff book linked to The Four series but instead of being in College, Carter Blackthorne is King of Alstone High School.

Raine is his neighbour, and pretty low on the school heirarchy, although she's always been attracted to him, he treated her with contempt, so she excels at being as invisible as possible until a Halloween style Fright Night gives her the chance to become else for the night, she jumps at the chance.

"Are you willing to pay the price? Trick him once, but don't trick him twice."

Things take an unexpected turn when Carter is enamored with her, anonymity of their masks give her the confidence to venture into territory she quickly feels guilty for when Carter discovers who she is. He's furious and feels like she played him. "You can want me, but you can never have me. Watch your back, little trickster."

His personal disdain for her presence has now morphed into a fullscape vendetta, thus begins the bullying portion of the courtship. Stephanie Nemeth-Parker does a fantastic job of bringing Raine to life and her performance mixed with the writing make the character very relatable. The push/pull between Carter&Raine is an intense thrill ride, I enjoyed the twist near in the end and he does redeem himself.

My Thoughts on Trick Me Twice

Talk about enemies to lovers/bully romance goodness. This book was exactly what I was hoping for and more from this author. It may be set in a high school setting, but with eighteen-year-old characters. The leading man is the type you love to hate when he’s being bad. But when he starts trying to change you feel for him. By the end you love him the way the leading lady does. And speaking of the leading lady, she was excellent. I loved that I could really see the character development with her specifically. I enjoyed seeing her come into her own and stand up to the leading man when needed. This was the kind of story I didn’t want to press pause on and happily went back to it if I had to pause.

The narrators were a huge part of what I loved. They both gave such fantastic performances. I feel like I love Gregory Salinas more and more with every story I listen to with him. Stephanie Nemeth-Parker was new for me, but definitely made a great first impression. I liked the different tones they had for the different characters and overall just thought they elevated the story.

Absolutely loved listening to this I didn’t want the book to end. Was great that Lena and Cassius from The Four were in it quite a bit and Weston , Caiden and Winter made a brief appearance.

4stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I dont want this to come across as a bad review because its not but i have to be honest.... I liked but not loved this audio, i scored 4stars because i struggled with the british accents- dont get me wrong im british myself but they sounded far too posh and well spoken for me (just my opinion)... after awhile i did get used to the voices but i just couldnt get past my initial thought. I didnt stop listening to it though and im glad because the story itself was good, i enjoyed the light bullying and the back and forth drama with Carter and Raine. I was really rooting for them!!

Lots of potential stories for other characters too😍

5 tricky stars for this one!!

Wow! I loved this so much.

Carter Blackthorne and Raine Laurent are neighbors, they aren't in the same social circles.. Carter is the "big man on campus" and Raine is the "shy quiet type" but the connection is undeniable. Even though they fight it and the bullying commences, they have this connection that I could feel!

I loved the suspense and "spook factor" that came with this story, it was the perfect halloween creep feel. I was sucked in from the beginning and couldn't get enough. I loved watching things unfold and was completely surprised when the "bad guy" was discovered. I never saw it coming.

I loved watching things all unfold and the events play out. Carter and Raine together were electric, their pull to each other was so strong they couldn't fight it forever. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Carter soften and give in.

First I want to start off by acknowledging that Gregory Salinas is the king of audiobooks, now that being said... that accent! What the hell was that? Dude were you British in a past life? That accent was perfect! And Stephanie Nemeth-Parker was new to me but she was awesome as well.

Loved it!

Rain is not what you would call a social butterfly. She’s definitely not on Carter’s level when it comes to popularity. But when masks are on, these two share some 🔥 chemistry.

Although Carter feels something for Rain, he’s not quick to latch onto those feelings, but when push comes to shove he’s there when it matters.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book. I think Becca Steele killed it with this one!

Gregory and Stephanie both did fantastic jobs narrating!
