Publisher's Summary
Honorable mention in the 2018 SPR Book Awards.
In this village, women are not the weaker sex. Nearly a century after a plague ravaged civilization, a secluded matriarchal society thrives in the mountains. In this village, there are no brothers, fathers, or sons. In this village, men exist only to serve the women. Boys have no mothers. In this village, men do as they are told, and defiance is severely punished.
This is the only life Wilderness has ever known, but when Jameson is brought in from the outside to be her husband, everything she thought she knew about strength and love is tested. As they struggle to find their place in the village, they suddenly find themselves face-to-face with outsiders who threaten to destroy everything they love, and it doesn’t take long to realize that they will have to work together, men and women alike, if they want to survive.
Tribe of Daughters has been hailed as unique, emotionally moving, amazing, and fascinating by reviewers, who call author Kate L. Mary a master of world-building.

Great story
For a while I wondered if I wanted to listen to this story was afraid it was no good how wrong I was. The story is very well written and reminder that we need equal rights. Not just for the gender but all people. When The scales are not right something will go wrong even if it works for a while in the end it will end badly. In this story it's the men who have no rights and looking at it from the other point is hard too. you have sympathy with them also the women characters ok in the story because you know how sick the society they live in is. The characters are well created and the society also something that could happen in the future but we hope not. The narrator is good some sound problem but short and like in beginning of new chapter. nothing really that should bother anyone. I can recommend this book.

Brilliantly written
Tribe of Daughters is a powerfully written, dark dystopian tale depicting tribal corruption and the absence of equality at its worst. The cultural elements have certain similarities to the Matriarchy Society in the bronze age and the Greek Amazonian. Regrettably, in this tribe, the men are enslaved, exploited, and punished, even by death. This book is fascinating, it's dark, harrowing, and utterly captivating. Kate L. Mary is fast becoming one of my favorite post-apocalyptic authors. The writing is flawless, especially the poignant parts. The characters are three-dimensional, complex with the capacity for growth. Overall, this was an emotional listen, thought-provoking, and not for the faint-of-heart. Nikki Zakocs did a great job with the narration, she was precise and clear. I enjoyed how she manipulated her voice for the different characters. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Dark and powerful...
Tribe of Daughters by Kate L. Mary and narrated by Nikki Zakocs is a powerful story not for the faint of heart. Highly recommend if you are new to Kate’s books or looking for a darker dystopian story. What’s it about? Jameson is on a business trip when he is abducted by a group of women. They are unlike any women he has met before- they live in the forest, have no contact with outsiders, hunt their own food, build their own shelters, the men’s only purpose is to serve the women and provide variations into their offspring (the background is given not too far in as to why things are the way they are). If the men fail to do as asked or fail to follow the rules, they are beaten or killed depending on the crime. As Jameson acclimates to a new way of life, he is picked by the tribal leaders daughter Wilderness, to be hers. They grow fond of each other resulting in challenges to long held traditions and when the group is threatened, the men and women must come together or face death. Yes, there is a lot more but keeping spoilers to a minimum. Some parts were difficult to listen to, while some were heartwarming, and some heartbreaking. There are lessons to be learned if you chose to take that route, otherwise just sit back and appreciate the story as it is well-written and absorbing. The story changes viewpoints between Jameson and Wilderness and you will have no problem knowing whose turn it is. I finished this story five days ago and I’m still thinking about it and trying to figure out how to review it in a way that will give it justice. With that being said, I highly recommend and you should definitely give this book a listen. This would also be a good choice for a book club as many discussions can be had. The narrator, Nikki Zakocs, was good overall. It took me a couple chapters to adjust to Jameson’s voice, but when I did, it was fine in the long run (could just be me and my preference). 4 ½ stars for narration. “She is everything I am destined to be but so much stronger than I am in every way and I have no idea how I will ever be able to walk in her footsteps without falling.”~ Wilderness thinking about her mother. A couple of the thoughts I had while listening: power corrupts regardless of gender, if women did the things men do (relax folks, I’m not saying all men or all women), and how our actions and choices set events in motion and how they shape our society. Parental guidance/trigger warnings: This is not a story for the faint of heart. It contains violence, death, drugging of males for sex, sex trafficking, hunting animals for food, whippings, a dog fight, kidnapping, rape, casting aside children due to gender, and similar elements.

Wow pretty dark
Wow what a unique storyline. Dark and hard to listen to at times but very original. As is the case with man Kate L Mary books, the theme is post-apocalyptic in nature. A virus befalls the earth decades earlier and life is very different from what it is today. It appears as if a rebuilt is in the making as teams of workers are recruited to fix major railways in the country. Jameson is one such worker on a work crew sent out to repair the railways. The job is thankless and dangerous but apparently pays well so it was a no brainer. Wilderness is the tribe elders daughter and has come of age to take a husband in a matriarchal tribe. Men have no power, no voice and no rights in this reality. They're there to perform their duties and remain separate from the women's tribe. This is all Wilderness knows. She "takes" a husband, Jameson, and their very different worldviews and life experiences collide. Its culture shock for Jameson and the other men who accompany him from the railways. Wilderness knows a bit of her history and is starting to see the err in their ways of life and practices. Her and Jameson start to develop a bond unlike any other while danger waits around the corner ready to upend the tribe and all it stands for. The concepts behind the story are really rich and thought provoking. All that we know in our 1st world lives we take for granted in this story. Everything you know about family as fact is not the reality for these women and their men in this tribe. The events are disturbing and ironic and Kate unfolds how great a storyteller she really is as the chapters go on. Despite feeling somewhat predictable in terms of seeing things coming beforehand, you're still shocked or moved by the events and hope for particular outcomes. The narrator does a great job bringing to life all the characters, men and women alike. It all flowed very smoothly. I've listened to a few of Kate's books already and I really enjoy her preferred genre and writing style. I'll definitely be checking out more of her titles. Oh Brother! Down with the Matriarchy!
I received this book via a free promo code and this is my voluntary review. This is a stand-alone sequel to what happened in Vegas with Hadley Lucas& Vivian during Mad World in the Broken World Series. 70 years after the Zombie Plague and the triumphs of Team Angus James. What would happen if the world we knew ended and a group of mistreated women were given the opportunity to create their own backward Utopia? Simples... THE RISE OF AMAZONIA! Okay,so they aren't an actual group of Amazons but they have the same idea... which is completely understandable (had those thoughts myself) Woman=Supreme being. Daughters=Worthy. Everyone is a Sister. Man? =Slave, Servant.. Brain washed Husband. Son? Brother? There is no sons, and brothers do not exist. These are called Yeildlings. Occasionally the women go hunting cave-woman style and club some men over the head and bring them back to create children. This is how Jameson ends up in Wildernesses community as her own personal bedwarmer. Sent living in the man village (Mowglis not included... ) while she lives in the Women's Tree Village. He's paired up to be her husband but their traditions dictate she will never be his wife, only the mother of daughters he cannot claim, sons will sent to the village as yeildlings he cannot acknowledge either. He is bewildered by their ways, and more than a few of his original group resisted and ended up meeting their end. How can you explain the sexist inequality to a woman who doesn't even understand what a father is? That doesn't know what a brother is other than a yeildling? Jameson tries to make the best of a bad situation, hes falling for Wilderness and compared to the cities he came from... its not so bad-if you don't mind living like a slave. Wildernesses grandmothers generation were imprisoned and terrorized by men in a brothel until they escaped into the mountains. This is why they created a society of strong women where there is a kind of harmony between girls raised knowing no better, and a generation of men who just accept things as they are. Wilderness is to be the next Elder of her village and there a fight inside Jameson, torn between wanting to be with her and finding it hard to accept their ways in a system that treats him like he is worthless. Desperate to make her understand that the way her people treat men is just as brutal as the Men at the Monte Carlo all those years ago treated those women... that a life without choice means they cannot move forward together if one expect the other to fall under either shadow. Soon Jameson helps her to understand that her tribes actions are similar to what happened to her grandmothers group in that hotel. Dawn proves that evil comes from both Genders after her abuse of her husband Hawk. Eventually the village meets another threat.... The railway line they stole Jameson from building should have been a warning. The outside world they stole Jameson from is moving closer to her village, their ways are challenged when the men and women must come together or face death. Narration was fantastic and the story kept me hooked from start to finish.

Amazing
Change is hard for a lot of people. it seems with every passing generation the young are more inclined for change. that is the sweeping feel of this book. 2 people find love and are brave enough to create change. sit down and listen for a book beyond the years of plague and how healing comes about. after the broken world series healing comes at last.

A completely original concept
This book is so different to other Kate L Mary titled I have read / listened to in the past but nevertheless still as enthralling. The story focuses on a completely new concept to me the ideology of total gender reversal . The book being a story of control and empowerment with very sinister undertones. Very original and a fantastic read. A little bit harder to get into but I'm so glad I stayed with it to the very end . I was given this book by the author/narrator in return for an honest and unbiased review

Unusual & Enjoyable Post Apocalyptic Adventure
Here is another classic by the excellent Kate L. Mary which is set 70 years after a plaque wipes almost everyone out. The new world id dominated by women who control the men. I really enjoyed this unusual story and it managed to keep me engaged through to the last page and I was also very impressed by the wonderful narration by Nikki Zakocs. I highly recommend this book. I was given this book in exchange for an honest and objective review
