Publisher's Summary

Pastor and fireman Nick Foster found the body in the inferno engulfing his church. From the bullet wound in the head, it's clear this is no ordinary fire victim. The quiet community of Newpointe, reeling from the shock of the dead man's identity, struggles with the agonizing question: who did it - and why?

Paramedic Issie Mattreaux is no icon of virtue, but she cares enough about her teenage nephew, Jake, to track him down when he turns up missing. Only, what she finds is far more than a harmless bonfire on the outskirts of town.

After a chilling attempt on Issie's life, Nick takes on the role of protector even as he struggles with the tragedy that has struck his church. Whoever is behind the fire is far from finished. Unknown to Nick, that person's twisted agenda now threatens to consume everything he loves most.

Trial by Fire is book four in the Newpointe 911 series, which offers taut, superbly crafted novels of faith, fear, and close-knit small-town relationships, seasoned with romance and tempered by insights into the nature of relationships, redemption, and the human heart.

Dial up more suspense from the Newpointe 911 series.

Narrator was terrible

I’ve listened to or read most of Terri Blackstocks books, and this one was a very slow pace and took quite a while to even be engaging. This one seems out of character compared to her other books. The narrator made the male voices too low and odd sounding. The very end of the book finally had the story speed, character depth and some of the story line I’ve seen in her other books. I’m not sure I’ll read her others in this series. Overall I didn’t enjoy the story’s pace, narrator or depth of character development and back stories.

Favorite Of Series So Far!

I really enjoyed this book. So far I liked it the best in the series. The characters are fun, good suspense, good storyline, The narrator could do better w/female voices, otherwise he was good as well! This author is so great! You feel like you know the characters personally, which takes a great & talented author. I consider myself to be a devoted fan of her work & hope to enjoy many more of her books either by audio or visual. Thank you so much for a fun and interesting series!

Strongly Christian

What did you love best about Trial by Fire?

If you don't like Christian based books, don't read this because there is a lot of emphasis on turning to Christ in the characters. The story is exciting and gets very intense at the end.

Have you listened to any of J. C. Howe’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

a great job on change of voice between characters.
