Publisher's summary

Cody Rivers is determined to be a rock star, but couch-surfing between bar shows gets old fast. Joining an a cappella group for a new singing competition show could be his last chance at real fame - unless the college boy from the heart of the country messes it up for him. Lucas Norwood is everything gothy, glittery Cody is not-conservative, clean-cut, and virginal. But when a twist in the show forces them together, even the sweetest songs get steamy as the attraction between them lights up the stage. Lucas wants to take it slow, but Cody's singing a different tune - and this time it may be a love song....

Another great story

This book is about an network singing competition. The framework of characters are developed just enough to hope they reappear in the next book in this series. The sex scenes are typical Annabeth Albert style. If you’ve enjoyed her other adventure stories. This book will not disappoint. I only wished to hear the character Lucas sing.

Story was good.

3.5*

I'm really trying to not let the narration color my feelings on the story itself, but it's hard. I don't say this to be mean, but the narrator did not do this book any favors, sadly. He sounded too old for these characters and made Lucas sound like a big bumbling idiot. I have the rest of the series in audio but I think I'm going to have to switch to the ebook, I don't think I could handle hours of listening to his voicing of Trevor.

There was a lot of back and forth between Cody and Lucas, which was understandable given their differences. And sometimes Cody got on my nerves with the way he treated Lucas, who was a little too precious for words. But overall the story was entertaining, and I enjoyed the ending and epilogue.

Nearly 12 hours of edging?

I loved all the creative ways Annabeth Albert found for these characters to push-pull with each other, the inexperienced but not-so-vanilla virgin, the gentle way Cody followed Lucas’s lead to explore and challenge boundaries. As I listened, I could tell this was a few years old. Annabeth’s skills as a writer have grown since this book. Even so, I enjoyed the slow burn, edging (the reader AND Lucas 😉), and Annabeth signatures - a story with heart and characters discovering their truths.

I didn’t love this narration. I think if I “reread” this one I’ll choose digital or print.
