Publisher's summary

Deep in debt to Tough City's biggest boss, DeCameron Wichita takes a missing persons job that he oughtn't've and makes the biggest rookie mistake a guy like him could make: He falls in love.

With a stone-cold killer.

But because he never does anything half-way, he also interferes with a blood feud, challenges Da Cherch, butts heads with pornographers, goes on the lam from the FTCP, saves a damsel in distress, jumps out of a flying machine, puts on a dress, goes to the movies, and visits his mom. Oh yeah, and punches a whole lotta people. Just like any other day in Tough City. Only it wasn't any other day. It was Tuesday.

Read by co-author and renowned voice-actor Yuri Lowenthal, listeners will be in for a treat with the audiobook version of Tough City.

Bug Bot Press is pleased to announce the comedy pulp novel Tough City. Written by Yuri Lowenthal and Keith Ikeda-Barry as part of a 72 hour novel writing contest, while holed up in a cheap motel in Wichita, Kansas, the making of the book is almost as exciting as the book itself. Almost. You won't want to miss this side-splitting and spit-taking hard-boiled adventure.

"A cross between bloody-knuckle noir and old-school Pink Panther slapstick it only hurts when you laugh, and you'll laugh a lot." (Scott Sigler, author of Contagious)

"I sat up in my seat when I read the introduction, moved to the edge when I read the first chapter, and held on tight when the damn thing took off. The only book this year that I read in one sitting, Tough City is the kind of literary experiment the world needs more of. Blisteringly odd descriptions and quirky, character-driven dialogue make for an unforgettable read!" (Travis Sentell, author of Fluid)

Hardboiled Detectives and Classy Dames? Happy Birthday to me!

If you're looking for a publication with plenty of attitude and style, look no further! This brilliant "Noir-vella" is entertaining as hell and an award winner to boot. The astute use of Low-Fi to set the mood warps you right into the world of hardboiled tough guys and dames that are prettier than a serene sunset over a country horizon. Not only do you get this volume expertly read by one of the writers, you also get all the VO talent of said writer, Yuri Lowenthal, creating voices for the myriad of outlandish characters contained within. Need more? Then the charming and heartfelt story of a gumshoe looking for love in all the wrong places, literally, plus the writers' refreshing, witty and candidly vulgar sense of humor will keep you coming back for more. But seriously, don't take my word for it. Go read and listen for yourself!

Get ready for an insane amount of toughness!

This was seriously great. I enjoyed the foul language, the clever writing and the overall story. It was off the wall and fun and never once did I feel bored with it. If two people wrote this, they edited it so perfectly that I couldn't tell at all. This could absolutely be a book series and if they ever made this into a short of some kind, I’d watch the heck out of it. Very well done and Yuri's delivery was perfect. 👏
