Publisher's Summary

The true story of a six-year-old boy with a dreadful secret.

Oskar's school teacher raises the alarm. Oskar's mother is abroad, and he has been left in the care of friends, but has been arriving in school hungry, unkempt and with bruises on his arms, legs and body. Experienced foster carer Cathy Glass is asked to look after him, but as the weeks pass, her concerns deepen. Oskar is far too quiet for a child of six and is clearly scared of something or someone.

And who are those men parked outside his school watching him?

Another cannot put down book!

All I can truly say is Thank God for a wonderful, exceptional life changing woman! I have read ALL of Cathy Glass's books and she is most definitely an angel here on earth! Such heartbreaking situations these children are in and I wish NO child to ever be harmed but I thank god there are people like her! Also as always the narrator is wonderful!

Not my favorite but still good

I’m a huge fan of Glass books, but this one wasn’t at the top of my list. Still a good one, just not as captivating as her other books.

Not credible

I found the story hard to believe.
The child’s mother should have been helped by social services

Heart-wrenching with a sweet ending

Denics Fairman has a soothing sweet voice. Cathy Glass writes such detailed and inspiring memoirs that you feel you are right there through it all. Though this story was heart wrenchingly sad, the end cheered me up a bit as they usually do.

Her memoirs get better and better with each book

Being a huge Cathy Glass fan, I have listened to all of her books, so when this one was released for preorder I bought it immediately. It did not disappoint. My heart broke along with Cathy’s when she told Oskar’s story. She is an amazing human being in the way she deals with these kids and their tragic stories. Danica Fairman is a great narrator, and give life the stories. I can’t wait for the next book!!!

Didn’t feel the book was about the boy

Got the overall impression it was more about how wonderful compassionate and clever the foster career was. Won’t be reading any more of her books

another brilliant life lesson...

since cathy's first memoir, i have been challenged to take a slower look at the things i pass by too quickly. it is critical that people know the real world and she brings that to us, once again. thanks for opening up your world so i could open mine...the tears and the joy....

Touching Memoir

Another amazingly touching memoir of Cathy & the children she’s fostered & cared for over the years.
Oscar’s story was harrowing & so glad that those men met their comeuppance in the end. I really hope he thrived back in Poland with Doll & Ivan, who also were clearly heroes in this story.
