Enigmatic clouds darken the skies, accelerating climate collapse and threatening humanity’s existence.
As these sinister phenomena poison the rain, drive people to madness, and swallow the unlucky into oblivion, Doctor Michelle Anderson is on a relentless mission to unravel their secrets. The answers may be linked to her father’s descent into “cloud madness.” In her boundless obsession, she will stop at nothing to prevent this extinction-level disaster.
When a humble Ghanaian farmer and a religious leader disillusioned by faith are drawn to Michelle in search of answers and healing, none of them are prepared for the hard truths they must confront at the end of their journey.

It’s science-heavy, so you do need to pay attention, and people who struggle to follow actual plots may not love it, but I enjoyed it. There’s a lot of info given/shown to the reader without the ‘info-dump’ that so many SFF reads use. It also features likable characters, as well as others I loved to hate.
A very interesting, thought-provoking read that puts a fascinating (and plausible, perhaps) spin on things like global warning and ‘aliens’.
Enjoyable! Would explore more by this author. Ultimately, I thought it actually made some excellent points about humanity.
4 stars.

The author, N. Joseph Glass, crafts a story that invites deep reflection on the ethics of humanity, scientific exploration, and our fear of the unknown. Through strong characters placed in morally complex situations, the narrative challenges institutions and power structures head-on, calling out reckless and unethical actions while prompting the listener to question what they themselves would do in similar circumstances. His writing is clear and detailed, keeping the storyline moving forward at a steady, engaging pace. Vivid visual descriptions, richly layered dialogue, and well-executed plot twists blend seamlessly into the story, creating a compelling and thought-provoking experience that lingers long after the final chapter.
The narrator, Audrey Solara, delivers a strong, immersive performance from start to finish. Their speech is clear and easy to follow, with a smooth delivery and a deliberate cadence that allows the story to unfold naturally without ever feeling rushed or flat. The tonal shifts are handled with care, matching each moment’s emotion and tension in a way that feels authentic rather than forced. Each character is given a distinct voice, making dialogue easy to follow and adding depth to the cast. Most importantly, the narration draws the listener in early and holds their attention throughout, creating an engaging listening experience that enhances the story.
This was an unexpected find – immersive, suspenseful, and intriguing!
