A dead body in the trunk of a car. It's the Kansas City mob's signature.

So why is a member of Ellison's circle found shot to death in a sedan at the country club?

Did Baxter Phelps have ties to the mafia? Did they make him an offer he couldn't refuse? Is Baxter's widow Helen in danger?

As Ellison is drawn into a dangerous investigation, she can't help but think maybe this time Mother is right. She should mind her own business.

I read a lot of cozy mysteries and i have to say that this series, The Country Club Murders, are among the very best I've ever read. Julie Mulhern has created such a great character in Ellison-- a modern woman living in the 1960s/70s-- and has an amazing grasp of the world of upper class women in that time. The murders are all interesting, original and hard to guess. Setting the mysteries in a time before cell phones and computers makes them harder to solve and the circumstances more suspenseful. Her family is great -- i've even grown to like her mother in 19 books! LOL And her conversations with her the coffeemaker on her kitchen counter are the best. Really recommend these books!

Julie is the BEST!

I love that these stories continue to stay in the mid-1970’s and reference Kansas City landmarks from that era. Julie Mulhern brings Ellison to life and you feel like she’s your best friend. The stories are always captivating “who-dun-it’s” with a surprise at the end always leaving you wanting more!

Another great read from Julie Mulhern

I miss the snarkiness from the early books, where she thinks about what she wishes she could say.

How did Kathleen O’Malley get to be Kathleen Mahoney?

Julie’s country club mysteries are the best trip down memory lane in Kansas City Missouri in the 1970’s! Love the language and vivid writing style! Thank you!

Perfectly captures the life, neighborhoods, and social culture of KCMO in the 70s. Good mystery and funny!!

Keep them coming, Julie!! Ellison is such an interesting character. The narration pulled me in, but it was the intricate layers of the plot that kept me there—twists, hidden motives, and subtle clues all woven together so masterfully I couldn’t press pause.

This series never disappoints!!

Kathleen Mahoney?? really?? I never write reviews but over the last few books I have been a little miffed by continuity issues over the books. only reason I keep buying is the reader.
