"Your daughter is dead." When Kat Cavanaugh hears the words every mother dreads, her perfect world shatters. She takes in the beautiful long blonde hair, torn yellow dress, and chipped blue nail-varnish. It can’t be real. And then the police add the word "suicide". But Kat refuses to believe them. Even when they show her the familiar looping handwriting and smudged ink on the note her little girl left behind. She knows her bubbly, vivacious daughter would never take her own life.

Fran finds her standing by the swings. A little girl, Esther, no older than seven years old, by herself in the dead of night, her pretty but old-fashioned yellow dress covered in grass stains and her hair dishevelled. Fran's instincts tell her something is very wrong. Why does Esther keep running away from home, and how did she get that bruise on her leg?

The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia. But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.

Second best K.L. Slater ever!

Publisher's Summary
Leah thought she could sleep easy now. She was wrong.
A production company wants to make a movie about Isabel Fielding’s life, but Leah knows this is a huge mistake. When the actress cast to play Leah is found murdered, she’s proven right in the grisliest of ways.
It seems like a straightforward case, as the deadliest ever female serial killer escaped prison a few hours before the murder. But Leah’s son Tom is first on the scene and Seb, Leah’s boyfriend, isn’t convinced by Tom’s innocent act. Even Leah must admit she doesn’t really know her son after he disappeared for months without contact.
Then, after Seb’s brother, Josh goes missing, tensions rise to breaking point. Seb suspects Tom is hiding his guilt, while Leah is afraid of her own demons. And all the while, they’re being watched. The Fieldings are working together again, and that means no one is safe.
Three for a Girl is the final instalment in the Isabel Fielding series. Fans will not be disappointed. As the body count rises, so does the suspense. Everyone is a suspect. No one is innocent.

Just ok
I've been through all the ones in this series. This one just annoyed me. Don't know why it took me so long to realize how ridiculous the plot is.
I've never been a fan of making characters extremely flawed or with every issue possible. I mean really a whole family full of deranged sadistic killers? An uncle that's a people trafficker. Then a member of that family meets someone from another messed up family with incest and mental health issues. It just gets to be too much.
Between the main character whining and jumping to a conclusion every time that most people wouldn't. I can't like a book if it loses the ability to be believable. I lost count of how many times it made me roll my eyes.

Wanted to love it
The first book was amazing! The second book, I started to feel like the characters were getting weaker but I pushed through it. They were just strong enough, and the story was strong enough for me to purchase the third book. I hate what the author did with the main character. She became so weak and fragile through the entire third book, I had to make myself listen to all of it. The other characters became weak as well. It was really almost unreal and not believable. I have never left a negative review but I feel I had to on this one. The series started strong but I wish I had skipped it entirely.

What a disaster after series’ Books 1 and 2
Such a disappointment after the first two in this series! So ridiculously predictable, boring and slow. This one just didn’t have the precision and suspense as the first two. Jumping from too many ludicrous subplots and an abundance of unneeded characters, it made this a convoluted mess. Ugh! What a catastrophe. Even narrator Jasmine Blackborow couldn’t save this one. I’m still confused, probably because I don’t care…. With two more hours to go, it’s time to jump to the last chapter and/or Google “Three for a Girl.” I paid $11+ and did not use a treasured credit. I don’t return books I pay for.

Three Books in and No One is Any Smarter
Having finished the series, I realize that I allowed to much forgiveness of the main character's horrible predicaments because of her mental illness. But by book three, I had far less patience for her naivety. At one point in your life do instinct and intuition- plain old common sense even, kick in after being stalked by a serial killer for three novels?
Newsflash: The antagonist isn't brilliant as everyone seems to assert, the detective in charge and the protagonist are both just equally daft and this installment in the series made me upset at the number of bystanders who suffered because of it. Isabel becomes extremely sloppy, unhinged and out of control which seems contrary to her character along the way.
The book tried to tap into the me too movement by portraying women as simply being victims of their circumstances. It felt tragic but fior all of the wrong reasons.

I enjoyed the dark mind concepts explored in this 3rd part of the Isabel Fielding trilogy. there were enough little twists to keep it from being 'just more of the same' and snippets of lightness to lift the darkness. now left with the usual 'what to read next?' dilemma when one finishes a riveting book.

Story
"Your daughter is dead." When Kat Cavanaugh hears the words every mother dreads, her perfect world shatters. She takes in the beautiful long blonde hair, torn yellow dress, and chipped blue nail-varnish. It can’t be real. And then the police add the word "suicide". But Kat refuses to believe them. Even when they show her the familiar looping handwriting and smudged ink on the note her little girl left behind. She knows her bubbly, vivacious daughter would never take her own life.

Story
Seven years ago, six-year-old Maisie Earnshaw was found facedown in a duck pond, her body mutilated. Isabel - at age 14, found covered in Maisie's blood - was convicted of murder. As Leah spends time with Isabel, she comes to know her as a young woman with a sweet, gentle nature, someone she could never see as a murderer. Leah begins to suspect members of the Fielding family of framing Isabel as a young girl, and she's not the only one. True crime blogger James Gorden thinks Isabel is innocent, too.
