Un-Surprisingly, Beautiful

Zahn and Thompson come together once more to weave an exceptional story! Zahn has woven another patch into the quilt that is Star Wars. His writing is superb, and thankfully we have someone just as brilliant to narrate! I can not applaud this enough! I also plan on purchasing the physical copy, because apparently there is a pull out poster featuring the Grand Admiral himself! But do yourself a favor and jump into this audiobook!


A few notable aspects that I can remember (re listening after this!) NO SPOILERS!

The story of Thrawn's ascendancy to Grand Admiral.

The unique Chiss twist of the importance in utilizing and preserving resources, which bordered on compassion for others.

The tie in to Star Wars Rebels! Providing a really rich background into why certain events occurred in the show.

A beautiful balance of political intrigue (which I ABSOLUTELY love in the Star Wars universe!), and intense action scenes!

One detail I really appreciated was the depiction and hesitance of Coruscant's underbelly. We typically see this through the eyes of force wielders or soldiers, neither of which really experience the emotions that an everyday person would when confronted with the slums.

Wonderful Narration!

The Narrator perfectly nailed the voice of Thrawn and the various other characters! This was my first Star Wars audiobooks and I can affirm that it was the best introduction to Star Wars books in such a format.

Be advised that this is a listen that makes you think alot... though Thrawn usually explains his actions it can be hard to follow at times. for some books that is a downside, but in this book, for a careful listener, it is a very exciting listen.

Must read for fans of Thrawn from legends

This novel actually made me cheer on the Empire and Thrawn. It also made me question if, aside from Palpatine, was the Empire really as evil as I originally thought. If you like story's that force you to question who the real bad guy is, than you'll love this book.

I could not stop listening. Every time i was forced to stop, my mind thinking about whats next and hopeing to listen agein

excellent book and writing. performance needs work

female characters were obviously played by males... and it shows... other than the obvious cliche voice types (i.e. the country boy, the german vampire, rich country club elder, the rough voice tyrant... get the picture?), it was a well written book. story was a bit disjointed.

This Audiobook Is Told Like A Space Opera

I throughly enjoyed this piece as told by Marc Thompson. Timothy Zahn's book is a masterpiece and when I read it. I know I will love it just as much. However on the road most of the day, it is much more entertaining than listening to the radio. The audio production quality is superior. I love when you have engineers and artist serious about the craft. Thanks

Excellent

Gives a much need in look at Grand Admiral and his thinking. The depth of description from Thrawn make you understand how he move and why. On to the second novel.

A fantastic book

The writing is simply exquisite, and the story is fascinating. I am looking forward to listening to the next book.

Sound effects, and voice acting probably makes this the best audio book I've ever listened to.
