The Sunday Times best seller.

Grand Admiral Thrawn and Darth Vader team up against a threat to the Empire in this thrilling novel from best-selling author Timothy Zahn.

I have sensed a disturbance in the Force.

Ominous words under any circumstances, but all the more so when uttered by Emperor Palpatine. On Batuu, at the edges of the Unknown Regions, a threat to the Empire is taking root—its existence little more than a glimmer, its consequences as yet unknowable. But it is troubling enough to the Imperial leader to warrant investigation by his most powerful agents: ruthless enforcer Lord Darth Vader and brilliant strategist Grand Admiral Thrawn. Fierce rivals for the emperor’s favour and outspoken adversaries on Imperial affairs—including the Death Star project—the formidable pair seem unlikely partners for such a crucial mission. But the Emperor knows it’s not the first time Vader and Thrawn have joined forces. And there’s more behind his royal command than either man suspects.

In what seems like a lifetime ago, General Anakin Skywalker of the Galactic Republic and Commander Mitth’raw’nuruodo, officer of the Chiss Ascendancy, crossed paths for the first time. One on a desperate personal quest, the other with motives unknown...and undisclosed. But facing a gauntlet of dangers on a far-flung world, they forged an uneasy alliance—neither remotely aware of what their futures held in store.

Now, thrust together once more, they find themselves bound again for the planet where they once fought side by side. There they will be doubly challenged—by a test of their allegiance to the Empire...and an enemy that threatens even their combined might.

Good star wars book, but...

A good overall star wars adventure, although it does not focus that much on Thrawn, but more on Darth Vader and the relationship between a young jedi and a soldier of the Chiss Ascendancy

A very good audiobook!

Not quite as good as the previous book about Thrawn but still a lot to be learned and quite entertaining too. I hope the Thrawn Journal will reappear in the future books.

Thrawn vol 2

Not quite as good as the first book. The split narrative jumping between the past and present made it feel a little less focused than the first.

enjoyed it, but not as good as the first

I did enjoy this book, but it wasn't as good as the first. I missed Eli vanto in this, but I assume he will appear in the third book. I wish there was more Vader and thrawn and less of Skywalker and thrawn, but other people may like that more. overall a good book and we'll read by Marc Thompson.

Decent star wars addition

Well read and entertaining. Nowhere near as good as book 1 but still enjoyable. The jump between time lines was confusing at times. Managed to capture Anakin’s winey personality perfectly

How the mighty have fallen!

Probably the worst Star Wars novel, ever. Some character's have terrible stereotypical Irish accents, with the diddley eye, eye, eye bs.

Dude, where is my star freighter!

I normally like Timothy Zahn stories but I couldn't finish this. Very poor stuff.
Voice actor was okay except for his Anakin! Anakin Skywalker sounds like a Californian surfer or Michaelangelo from the Turtles.
My biggest issue is that how he seems to make both Anakin and Darth Vader weak. Vader almost beaten by a swarm of insects? Come on? It is like Zahn wants everybody to forget they can use the force!! The entire second sight descriptions didn't work for me either.
Really enjoyed the first Thrawn book but this is poor.

Meh disappointing.

Loved the first one. and I usually love Anakin/ Vader stories but for some reason I just couldn't gel with this one. Thrawn is such a good character and if it wasn't for him then this would of been a dire book. narration was superb as ever though

Timothy Zahn delivers again

Really good pace throughout the story and links to the previous interactions between Thrawn and Anakin Skywalker.

No more double vision

A bit boring in parts. Enjoyed Anikin and Thrawn being together but to me Vader should always work alone and in complete command.

Good, but nothing compared to its predecessor

After the rich character development and arcs of the first Thrawn novel, centring focus onto only one arc in the present and past was a backwards step from the brilliant precedent set before it.

I was surprised

Ah yes, flashbacks to the clone wars and a sneaky mention of Ahsoka. What a start! Being the second book in the series, I was surprised to see it take a back step but loved that it mentioned Thrawn's failed capture of the well-loved Star Wars: Rebels crew. Furthermore, the flashback to Darth Vader's Jedi past is put together so well.
I love how strong Padme is and how sure she is about the Republic. Also, what is any person's dream but irresponsible with the force, well, Anakin has fun with this plot idea, and I LOVE it! I also love to see Thrawn care for his own kind.

The sequence of events flowed very well, and the step by step development of rapport between Thrawn and Vader was written so well. In many ways, I enjoyed this book more than the last Thrawn novel as it was so rushed. This took its time and developed them in a way that made me deeply invested.

Overall there is a lot to like about this book. Would 100% recommend this book to any Vader/Thrawn/Padme/Anakin fan!
