Publisher's summary

"I have my pride. I have sworn to marry the girl, and marry her I will."

After ten long years, the Earl of Devenham has returned to wed Mary Anstey, only to find that their feelings for each other have cooled off considerably. Nevertheless, they both put on bright faces for the benefit of family and friends.

But Mary's younger sister Emily sees through their masquerade and would sacrifice anything rather than see her retiring sister married to the now-haughty earl.

Desperate measures were called for: a sleeping draught in Mary's wedding-morning chocolate and Emily could don the veil and then force an annulment once the trick was discovered.

It was the kind of plot that could - and would - get young Emily into trouble.

How protective the characters were about giving their love to the wrong person.

I thought the story was adorably cute. It was well written. The characters were perfect in their roles.

Sweet and Sad

I find theese stories are true in the fact that, well marriage at any time is a lot of work or do I mean compromise. That is what Emily and her Earl must learn to do COMPRISE.

Too much back and forth drama!

I don’t know if I’m just getting sick of M. C. Barton’s books or what it is. Always some arrogant pig and some stupid girl. Both playing head games. I’m over it.

Endearing Romance

This was an endearing and amusing romance. The cat made me laugh aloud .. this is one of the best of this author and excellent narrator
