Typical style of the Author

This was funny in spots and in line with the authors other work. The flimsy excuses for cheating and /or leaving one’s spouse was far fetched. I don’t think it added much to the book. It actually took away from the cute main storyline.

I highly recommend this book

you will enjoy this story indeed. clean book, no bad language, no sexual scenes, really good story and the narrator is excellent.

Sabrina, but even better

This one has major Sabrina vibes for me but I don't even mind bc a.) Sabrina is a great story and b.) I can't help picturing Edward as middle-aged Harrison Ford. You will love love LOVE Polly's parents. Her mother is a wonder and her dad's scene with the duchess is one of the funniest and best Mrs. Beaton has ever written in a romance tale. It rivals some of her Agatha Raisin scenes for pure humor! This is honestly the best of her romances I have read bc the characters grow and mature, but never lose the amusing wonder of their authentic selves. Also, no one is perfect in it. Edward & Polly are by turns a pain in the rump, but they are always endearing. This will be a repeat for me. Narrator Dore, who in some books can be too stiff, also does a nice job with this one. I definitely recommend!

Usually a fan of MC Beaton

I’ve read probably over 50 books of MC Beaton and usually really like them for entertainment purposes. This one has way too much infidelity in it. I was overall depressing and disappointing that everyone had such lack morals. Cheating on spouses is wrong and somehow this book made it seem ok. Not a fan.

not my favorite

this one wasn't my favorite. there was way too much unnecessary adultery. the narration was pretty bad. i don't mind Charlotte anne dore in some of the other books, but i didn't like the way she did the voices in this one.
