Adam Kay is a marvel. He has biting wit and a tender heart. This isn't just a collection of hilarious stories but also a meditation on why so many health care professionals work so hard in Britain under such depressing conditions.

I am an MD in the USA and absolutely loved this book. The narration was FANTASTIC. I both laughed and cried. I encourage all patients and providers to demand changes to the NHS system. The USA mandated a MAX of 80 hr work weeks and total shift hours of 30 hrs max. These changes in the early 2000s and it has made some difference. I hope the UK is there. That said, look at what I am writing!?! Does anyone want someone who has been awake for 30hrs deciding their life and death decisions??

Why would anyone want to be a doctor?

I’ve experienced this book both paperback and audible and I still belly laugh with occasional throw up feel in parts (the blood clot feast really got me). Listening to Adam Kay reading his own work is authentic truism. Brilliant book! It’s a must have.

Fun listen

Took me a while to get used to the cadence since it's just short diary entries. But a fun listen.

Great book

Great work and narration. Interesting insight to life as a physician. All that devotion to people and the UK docs still get blasted by politicians for momentary political gain.
