Highly recommend!

I saw James on Steph’s packed lunch and thought I would give his book a try, as I am going through a tough time at present.
I ordered the audio and sent off for the paperback version-so I can easily use for reference when going back to the exercises.
I love the honesty when James talks about his personal experiences and how he has combat the demons.
As he explained about resilience
I began to realised that I had at one time possessed a fair level of self resilience. Didn’t know that that was what it was, until James explained it.
I am determined to get to that resilience back again, if not better than before. I know it won’t happen overnight, but I have the belief I can get there and through this book, the tools to do it.
My diamond has, over the years, become dull because I haven’t looked after myself.
I am going to dazzle again and so grateful for the words in this book to help me to achieve this goal. Thank you, James.

The manual

In a world filled with background noise, physical and emotional demands and a seemingly-constant lack of time, James asks if it’s any wonder why we are full of anxiety? His narrative encourages the reader to slow down and pause, taking breath (physically and metaphorically) to examine the separateness of our existence. Why must we merge with the dissonance of our surroundings? It is entirely in our power to draw strength and power from within.

In his book, James provides practical, uncomplicated exercises in personal and situational awareness that aim to fit into modern life. He draws on his own lived experience of adversity and triumph as well as his knowledge of neurodevelopment, socio-economic issues and human behaviour to eloquently explain the reasons behind our thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

Throughout the 5 chapters, James explains what it really means to be mentally resilient and how we all have the intrinsic power to harness this. He describes the power of emotional intelligence and emphasises its importance in developing and nurturing human connections. James seeks to break the toxic stereotypes about how humans should behave and instead encourages continuous evaluation and positive change.

This book is a must-read for anyone dealing with low self-esteem and serves as a guide to encourage the reader to examine their inner world, discarding any beliefs that no longer serve them and creating an inner core of safety and security.

An amazing audio book from an amazing person and brother. We have all come a long way and continue to fight our own battles. This book has helped me understand what resilient actually is, which has helped me better understand myself and situation. I will certainly be listening to this again for a second time soon.

TYR is a must listen to title by one of the most authentic former military leadership authors out there today.

Some self help books will convince you to read them because they claim to be able to change you. James Elliott cuts through the BS to not only crystallise the British Army resilience methodology (for which he was the catalyst) but has also manages to relate to insightful and often deeply moving examples about his own experiences, human flaws, upbringing, personal growth, and inspirational life now dedicated to helping others.

Only you can change you, but if you read / listen to this book it will give you a solid framework from which to reflect and build upon. JE - thank you for this superb title and here’s hoping for many more to come. SF

An absolutely brilliant read.

The book is simultaneously academic and personal, providing a guide to resilience that is educating and endearing.
Elliot blends his own raw experiences with psychology and neurology, culminating each chapter with exercises to build a stronger mind. This makes the book a fantastic tool to develop resilience, highly recommend.

A great book about mental resilience and a great listen.

Think Yourself Resilient had me hooked from the ‘preface’ and I finished it in one sitting. Normally I’d listen to an audiobook for about 2-3hrs before having to turn it off as I lose my concentration.

The book breaks mental resilience down in a logical and easy to understand way with clear tools to help you improve your own mental resilience over time.

James describes his own harrowing experience and upbringing which gives the book a personal feel and draws you in as a listener/reader. Although not the primary focus of the book - there was some humour in there too which I personally liked.

Marshy does sound like a great little guy.
