Publisher's summary

Theodosia Throckmorton has her hands full at the Museum of Legends and Antiquities in London. Her father may be head curator, but it is Theo and only Theo who is able to see all the black magic and ancient curses that still cling to the artifacts in the museum. Sneaking behind her fathers back, Theo uses old, nearly forgotten Egyptian magic to remove the curses and protect her father and the rest of the museum employees from the ancient, sinister forces that lurk in the museums dark hallways.

Girls Adventure

Visualize Indiana Jones as an 11 year-old girl. My 9 year-old daughter listened to it in just 2 days.

The Series is Addicting

Any additional comments?

This book is the first of four. It seemed to start out slow, and I was not sold on it at all. By the end of the book I had overcome some of my early reservations, and was willing to give the rest of the series a shot. It gets progressively better, and is increasingly charming throughout! By the third book it really seemed as though the author was hitting her stride. I highly recommend it.Moreover: What gives, Audible?? Book four has been out for years, and there's no audiobook? Please, please, please get on it!

Delightful and precocious

If you could sum up Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos in three words, what would they be?

Funny, educational, absorbing

What was one of the most memorable moments of Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos?

The climax where Theodosia is facing the Serpents of Chaos in the pyramid.

Any additional comments?

I like good children's books, they usually have a level of humour that adults pick up . This one is just beautiful.

Great listen

A children's author R. LaFevers is not. And trust me when I say this is meant as the most highest compliment. This book transcends the boundary of age and can entertain and educate on all levels. I highly recommend this book for those die hard Harry Potter fans and see this as the next big hit. Can't wait to get the next book.

We loved this book!

What a wonderful, exciting book! I listened with my 7 and 11 year old boys and loved it as much as they did. It’s part historical, part Egyptian mythology, part mystery and pure joy to listen to. The narrator is just delightful! We are currently on the 3rd book in the series.

Highly Entertaining

My 7 yr old twin boys loved this. We've already downloaded the next in the series. At times the interactions between Theodosia and adults is ludicrous but I think that's partially why my boys were so excited about it.

On par with Harry Potter

The story is very engaging. The mythology and magic of ancient Egypt is brought to life. My daughter especially loved it.

Excellent performances, some mispronounced words

Really excellent performance, exciting to listen to, and does all the voices really well. But taking 1 star off due to some misprounced words, which was really annoying.

Fun YA for all ages

A sassy genius child navigating through the most outrageous adventures inside and out of a museum and the Egyptian tombs themselves. Believable? Not at all! But that is just a detail in a story that involves gods and potions anyway.

Great

What an amazing voice she has! The narration is just brilliant. The story is very exciting but leaves few surprises for a 30'something such as myself but for younger listeners I think it will keep them on the edge of their seat for the whole journey from beginning to end.

Terrific fun!

A splendidly ripping yarn. Theodosia is funny and resourceful as, aided and abetted by her brother Henry and street urchin Will, she sets out to save Britain from the plagues of ancient Egypt.

what a find this was

Would you consider the audio edition of Theodesia and the Serpents of Chaos to be better than the print version?

yes the story is excellent and told in an intelligent way to its target audience whom many books patronize. The language and the decidedly odd heroine are a pleasure to read, but ms parrys performance is stellar I must say

What other book might you compare Theodesia and the Serpents of Chaos to, and why?

Maybe the wardstone chronicles which also feature a distinctive heroine Alice, and don't talk down to the young audience

Egyptian magic rules

Theodosia actually lives with her parents but they are always at the museum and as a result, she has discovered an ability to detect curses. She is protecting the museum and her family from the curses that they bring back from Egypt. This time she has discovered a curse that even she can't break... well not in the usual way. The chaos that ensues brings her together with her brother and brings the Egyptian Gods clearly to this world and shows magic in a different way.

Wonderful characters, brilliant story and engaging times. The turn in the middle seemed a little different and had me confused a couple of times but it made sense.
