The Zero Method has four levels:
- Take steps to increase your inner awareness by slowing down, connecting with your body, and taking time for self-care.
- Know yourself by understanding your history, connecting with your unique purpose, setting goals, and seeking out the environment that will allow you to achieve it.
- Learn how to troubleshoot the challenges that come your way including unexpected change, challenging emotions, and stress.
- Embrace the power of your vision, resetting your presence to live in your higher mindset.
Through the Zero Method and my journey beyond the checklists, I discovered another side to the masculine identity. I saw that learning to be both authentic and accountable revolutionized my quality of life. Leaving the myths behind and embarking on a more profound journey builds us as men and allows us to build more meaningful relationships with others. I want to share this journey with the world.
Who is this book for?
This book is for men who seek a better quality of life through self-improvement. They seek to reach their personal goals through authenticity and ownership and are ready to shed false ideas of success.
I have focused this book on my male clients and listeners because of my own experience as a man. What I learned while gaining a PhD in psychology and in my personal study of personal development and mindfulness was counterintuitive to how I grew up and how my parents raised me. After falling flat on the myths of masculinity for a few decades, I discovered different ways of being, thinking, and engaging as a man.
The techniques in this book can help you at any stage of your life. You can learn to let go of hurt, negative core beliefs, and difficult emotions. You can learn steps to address mental health concerns in an integrative, healthy way.
You can understand how your roots, family, and culture affect the way that you are. You can learn to change your narrative and embrace your gifts and the wisdom of those who came before you.

Solid guide to self mastery
Dr. O does a great job in this short and practical guide walking readers/listeners through a method of self mastery he developed along his own journey towards becoming the man he wanted to be. The book is filled with a lot of research oriented/ tried and true practices + innovative ideas stemming from his unique life and career evolution which when combined add up to a powerful tool box that if applied - can be transformative. He weaves together his personal story in a way that is relatable and engaging but not as over the top as some books where the content can feel more like a biography of the author than a practical guide. I listened once through to feel the full landscape but plan to listen again in chunks in order to do the exercises at the end of each chapter- which felt to me really critical to apply the highest value of the material. The target audience is men and reframing what healthy masculinity looks like but the wisdom within could be applied to all gender identities. A supplementary PDF with the exercises would be great but it’s easy enough to write down the prompts in case that doesn’t become available at some point.
