Publisher's summary

The Youngbloods are back with more sinister suspense, dark humor, and romance. Don’t miss the second book in a new serial novella trilogy featuring an unforgettable family of antiheroes.

The Youngbloods are a dysfunctional family from hell—literally. The mafia-like demon family got stranded on Earth during an infernal invasion gone wrong and have spent eons maintaining a fragile peace. But Petra Youngblood has strained the family bonds by breaking a cardinal rule: falling in love with a human. And not just any human: the sacrifice required to keep her family immortal. Even worse, the sacrifice, Killian Irons, is part of the secret society hell-bent on killing her family.

Now Petra’s love affair has thrown the Youngbloods into chaos, creating clashes that pit parent against child and sibling against sibling. Making matters worse, Killian’s secret society has kidnapped the family matriarch, Ora Youngblood. Forced to decide between Killian’s life and her family’s existence, what will Petra choose? And can she trust him not to betray her?

not bad, but one thing drove me nuts...

The story is interesting enough. It wasn't until this second book that something bothered me. I don't know if I didn't notice or if it wasn't there in the first one, but the voice of the main character started driving me crazy. There are certain words, mostly names of cities/countries/designer brand names, that she decides need to be pronounced weird. It doesn't fit how the character normally talks. It is kinda with a accent that comes off a little racist/mocking/stereotyping. It just feels out of place and unnecessary. Everytime I heard them say something like that I was really tempted to just stop the book entirely. Don't think I'll bother listening to the third one because of it.

Continuity?

Perhaps I misunderstood, but I thought Petra and Aristotle were born after Nix and Katma, yet the Mother refers to her as her eldest daughter.

Previously Nix and Katma had talked about their time before the twins.

I am pleasantly surprised that this isn’t about Vampires.

Just good fun!

I’m usually into darker historical fiction, but I’m addicted to the Youngbloods! They’re annoying, traitorous, funny and lovable, I’m heading over to the next book now!

Very entertaining!

Too short. Easy to listen and enjoy. The narrators were excellent! The only complaint is that in the first novella Petra and Aristotle are younger than Kapna and Nix and this book Cybil states that Petra is her oldest. Otherwise it was an enjoyable book to listen.

Just as good as the first.

The humor and trills continue in this the second of three books. Disliked all the "f" bombs, not necessary.
