5 star book, 4 star audio

Great book. Found author on TikTok. Liked her humor and thought her style would be the kind of main character I’d enjoy reading. Enjoyed every minute. Strong female man character. Diverse cast without being token representation. Epic trails fantasy with enemies to lovers storyline without being too long. It scoffs in the face of weak woman, and leans into violence and spicy scene heavily. Chapters are well split up to leave you wanting to read more. The only downside is the narration. I don’t mind the voice, rather the recording had obvious spots of re-recording done and a distinct change in volume can be heard. This takes the lister out of suspension and slams them back to reality. I also seem to recall some chapters were in the male character’s POV, and would have preferred a new male voice reader for those parts. Despite the audio recording failures, this book is 5 stars for me.

Great Story and Narrator

This is very different than anything I’ve read before. It’s very interesting and well written! I’m not sure why this series isn’t more popular.

Couldn’t put it down!

Great story, I must say however that the main character at one point did make me upset she just was so naive but of course I can’t blame her too much, although she did put herself in unnecessary danger and was hardheaded she was very well written. At one point it game me the sensation of the movie Tangled, a girl learning the world being exposed to new things. The end recked me, now keep in mind I have little to know foresight so to me it took me and shattered me. I kept looking at the wall staring, I literally purchased the audible book for Chasm right after because there was nooo way I would be left in that emotional distress! Overall great book, great story and amazing author

not a bad debut

Overall I did enjoy the story. I did find it absolutely annoying how inconsistent the volume was from the narrator. Imagine driving in your car, volume up because the narrator has gotten quieter and quieter. Then all of the sudden, it is extremely loud and you have to turn the volume down. You can very obviously tell when she took breaks.
Other than that, I enjoyed the book and will continue to listen to the rest. Spice level , 2 chili peppers but most of it is very close to the end.
The cliffhanger? Are you kidding me. I'm hooked.

100 Stars!

Okay. Let’s go! I’m ready for book 2. It’s May 2023 and I know it’s coming in September, but geez! I found Mrs McEwan on IG and truly relish her banter with her husband. One day I see she has this book. It seems that her true self is quite the voice of the protagonist, and I have zero qualms with that. The adventure, the idea of a people living in the depths of winter forever, the fights, the female power, the frigid winged beasts, the unquenchable romance. It’s all that and more. And the narrator is superbly chosen. I can’t imagine this won’t be a movie someday.

Excellent, now onto book 2

Excellent story line, world building, and narration! So glad book 2 is out. I listened to book 1 again just to be fresh. Such a great find!

Watch out for that Cliff Hanger!

Ledge was a decent story, but I couldn't help thinking it was kinda predictable. But thats coming from someone who has read a lot of romantasy. The biggest surprise comes at the very end then leaves you on a ledge (har har). The side character banter was fun, but I wish I cared more for them and they had more development. The writing style was super unique! Might not be everyone's cup of tea. Third person with a present tense, omniscient pov, meaning it switches around when the author wants to explain from a different characters viewpoint. I found that enjoyable! Overall solid 3 stars, I'm glad I read the first with the second already out and available lol

Very well written

Very intriguing story line. I don’t really care for books written in 3rd person but stuck with this one because the story was so good and unique. Definitely worth the read. On to book 2!

Beautiful

Beautifully written and beautifully performed. I rarely hear audio books that narrators are so well suited to and that can perform voices of the opposite sex in such an non-obnoxious way! I can’t wait for the rest of the series!
